Wow! Emily/Hotch! That's a first! And it's an awesome fic! Because there are the only two i could actually ship in this fandom. But i still like Hayley. Unless she really is cheating on him. Awesome story! Very angsty and dark, and very very good.

but about the cheating, me 'n' elle pretty much have decided it's true. after all, in the last episode, the home phone rang, no one spoke when hotch answered, and then they called haley's cell.

if that's not an affair, i dunno what is. =) and emily/hotch is perfect, angsty solution.

Yeah, well Gideon with a gun at the end of "Doubt" was pretty obvious too. I really don't think they'd bring that kind of cliche drama to Hotch (and to the show).

It's not really a cliche. I mean, it happens all the time in real life to FBI agents and cops who try to have that kind of relationship.

But it wasn't obvious because a lot of people didn't think anything of it. It was a pretty small detail.

I really like this - it feels like a plausible progression, and Emily keeps her integrity throughout. You leave me hoping that Hotch realizes that he *can* love her :)

Hotch seems like the kind of guy who chooses women who have expectations they never explain -- until they're leaving him for not fulfilling them, then they explain all the ways they're not happy. (As a woman, I hate women like that.)
