GEEZ!! It's about time we have a new episode, I was DYING... I can't wait, will have to wait for tomorrow morning to *cough* "find it" *cough* so enjoy it live, everyone :D
This ending is one of the things I really appreciate about CM: sometimes the writers have the balls to make the really hard story-telling choices. I was actually hoping the father would kill the kid, simply because that's the more difficult and complex story to tell.
ZOMG that ending ROCKED. I think Bruce Willis himself would be proud of the final moments. Reid in shock was freaking funny. Its like two minutes later and he's still standing there slack jawed. lol
Wow, that was intense. I really liked it. A++ ending.
I also really love how the warden guy thought Reid was a complete weirdo and left him behind, but he would up finding them first. Just shows you that brains win.
Poor Reid was so shocked. Here I was expecting that Jack would listen to Reid and put the gun down and let the kid live, and then Jack said, "Tomorrow" and blew the guy's head off. Good for the writers for doing the unexpected.
Has Reid never seen anyone killed before? Why did he react that way?
I thought his reaction was because he actually thought Jack would put the gun down. He thought he would manage to stop it from happening in front of the girl's eyes, but he couldn't.
I think it's because he knew how traumatic seeing someone get killed is, and feeling like it's you fault (in Revelations) so he probably expected Jack to put the gun down.
I liked that Hotch and Prentiss partnered up a lot. I wanted to hug Reid and it seems Miss. Prentiss was quite the rebel when she was young lol. Over all this episode rocked.
My internet totally crapped out on me while I was watching last night, so here is my usual play-by-play
- I love the marquee at the movie theatre ("Human Hunt", "Into the Mouth of Hell"). It's a great commentary on how much our culture glorifies violence. We get so caught up in the "glamour" that we forget that these things happen to real people.
- Well mutilation of the hands and face not only indicates a desire to not only keep police from IDing the body, but also depersonalizes the victim.
- Witness protection program! I had a feeling it was something like that when Garcia mentioned the made-up history.
- I like the effect of jumping from one agent to another as they clear various houses.
- Oh God, Reid's going somewhere ALONE? Haven't the BAU learned their lesson about this?
- "Tomorrow." That's a great line, but I'm sad Reid couldn't convince him to stop.
- I love the look between Hotch and Jack, like Hotch acknowledging that he'd probably do the same thing in Jack's position.
- Oh God, Reid's going somewhere ALONE? Haven't the BAU learned their lesson about this?
Oh, I agree. I was like WTFNOOOOREID!! (You guys should have seen my reaction to Revelations..) My friend has SateliteTV and she got to watch it a few hours before I did. So she was texting me all throughout with her reactions.
Also: Reid's hair is really cute and makes him look like a puppy in this episode. YAY New Episode next week!
Me too! And maybe it was just me, but when he looked at Jack and started talking it looked like Reid had a mini flash back to Revelations, when he was told to pick someone to die and had the gun pointed at his face... It looked like he knew what the kid was feeling having a gun in his face. =/ *hugs Reid*
But like maisontv said Reid's going somewhere ALONE? Haven't the BAU learned their lesson about this? seriously guys, give Reid a break! He needs an invistagation buddy...
The slasher in me laughed at, Hotch: "And Reid...Be careful" Translation: "And Reid...I love you."
Actually i don't think Hotch would have killed anyone in front of his son, unless that person was directly threatening Jack's life at that moment. I think that's the difference between Hotch and (this episode's) Jack.
I loved this episode. The running Reid and shocked Reid was lol! but on a serious note I'm also happy the writers went down the "bad" ending route. Some to most shows wouldn't do that, which can make there characters look like heroes that make no mistakes or always get it right. I believe the ending shows that no matter how good you are it sometimes depends on the other to make the dicision that make the final outcome. In this case Reid gave an awesome speech but Jack just wasn't hearing it. I feel soo sorry for Reid.
Other highlights include Prentiss kicking a door down (1 to the girls!), Garcia awesomeness(As usual) and Hotch's "Then enlighten me or stay out of my way" :D I loved it. OH! and the Hotch Prentiss walking to cinema bit as I had just read a fanfiction that follow the same lines. When I saw it I was lmao!
Just wondering but did anyone else find it weird the choice of Rihanna's "umbrella". I know Katie sang it on the vblog but still, not a song you'd think would appear on CM.
Yeah, i thought they could have found a better song for this episode, but it does appeal to the teen audience which was the subject of this episode. But that song is so overused i'm so very very bored with it.
I loved this episode. It's one of those episodes that has it all: suspense, interesting plot, great supporting characters, awesome character interactions, very good directing.
I LOVED the Hotch/Prentiss scene in front of the theater: it's like they're narrating a story. It also gives jut a bit of Emily backstory. And well i loved the direction and editing of this episode overall. Very well composed with interesting intercuts.
Since when is Penelope calling Hotch 'sir'? What happened to 'honey'?
Very interesting story with Jack and his daughter. And the 'not perfect' ending. Poor Reid was really shocked when Jack killed the guy in front of his daughter. He's probably going to blame this one on himself as well.
Best lines: "Oh but when everything they hold precious is gone, then they're lost, just like the rest of us." - Hotch
Wow, amazing episode with great tensions and a lot of "emo eyes" for each characters(meaning strong silent moment of understanding/confrontation/whateva)... I thought it was really interesting to make a "jack-centric" episode, more than an "unsub" episodes, and if he was going, or not, to find his redemption... And of course, the ending, totally awesome, poor Reid went into shock straight away... Give him a hug!! I FLOVED the Hotch/Emily pairing, I mean, they investigate together, who knows what's next :)!! And about the "Umbrella" song, I think it does make sense, they were very clear in the episode about the fact Lindsay was trying to "protect" Katie, and the song is all about protection. In the end she meets this new teenager, and you know she will do the same with that new girl, "protect" her and be there to be the voice of "reason", all learnt by daddy dearest... And it's a very popular song, that fits with the teenagers story.
Did anyone feel like the episode was super short??? When it was finished I was like "WHAT???? ALREADYYYY? NOOOOO!!!". Don't know if its the lack of Cm drug in my system, or the fact that it was an amazing episode, but geez, Im craving for more!!!
oh I forgot to mention, Joe Mantegna has one talented daughter! Yep, that was Lindsay, for those who didn't know, and she was great :D It runs in the family, I'd say :D
I think it seemed short because it really seemed to jump in in the middle. We are used to seeing JJ give the case to the team, the plane ride there, getting there, the introduction... and the plane ride back. I really dont see why the BAU was actually there for the most part. Was it because of Jack being in the Witness protection program? The boys definately werent serial killers. I just felt like it jumped in too late or something.
Like everyone else, loved the ending, the door kicking was hot, and the scene infront of the movie theater was very very true.
I'm itching to know more from Emily's past. How bad was she? Being a little rebel, smoking cigarettes and wearing clothes that would make any mother's hair stick up straight. I also want to see more and more Hotch/Prentiss investigating with each other. I hope it turns into a Scooby Doo type thing where when Hotch splits them up into teams he's like Freddie and always pairs himself up with Prentiss like Freddie did with Daphne. I'm such a nerd lol but I love it.
Hi, I'm new. =) To me, it made the most sense to have Reid in that scene. He's the young, 'innocent' agent who would only think of protecting the child instead of also tying in what the daughter might think of her dad, in the long run, for *not* shooting the guy. Hell, the Victim was more of Adult than Reid was, and that could lead into a whole thing on her picking up her dads world, or the consequences of a parent being completely honest about themselved with their child. I think that went more towards that head nod at the end, the Father saw Hotch as as honest with himself as the father was himself and his daughter. I dont think Hotch is ready to be that honest with himself- it helps that the thing he hides behind is also the thing he has to be honest about, but still.
(though I thought we tried to make Reid more 'adult'like with the whole drug issue, but whatever)
