Not sure I'm a fan of that idea...

If they didn't have any of the main cast in it then surely it would just be a seperate tv show?

Hmmm. Will have to get more info before I make a proper judgement.

This is a story by Ausiello. And he is almost always wrong so don't take it very seriously. Anyway, I'll watch if it's any good but couldn't help to laugh when I read one of the comments saying "It's not like they can clone Matthew Gray Gubler and Thomas Gibson - Or can they?"

NO!!!!! Not that we can stop TV producers from reproducing something good until its like pablum, but they should leave this one alone. Someone had a wild idea and it worked, the original is the best. And as long as they can keep the actors happy, I say stick with what you have. Its like when Commander in Chief came out after the West Wing was so successful. Yeah, we all see how well that went.

And while CSI spinoffs are successful, there are science geeks in every police department in the country, there really is only one BAU.

I'm taking this with a HUGE pinch of salt, but my gut instinct is "nay". Why not just do what they do as well as they can instead of diluting what is a very well written show with a pointless spin-off.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Don't take this man too seriously. A couple of months ago he also claimed that House M.D had a spin-off show planned. Haven't heard anything about that again.

Assuming this is even near true, I'm sorely tempted to go with 'nay', but hey, who am I to judge it before I see it?

As long as they don't try and take any of the main cast away, I don't care. It wouldn't be a spin off then though, it would just be a free standing show in it's own right? Sounds a bit silly though, just focus on your ONE show and make it good, don't make two shows mediocre.

If it would have the same writers it could be a decent show. But it could also mean CM would suffer. Really i'm leaning towards nay.

But really, Ausiello is the one who reported whats-her-name would replace Gideon, not Rossi. So this should be taken with a grain of salt.

Noooooooooooooo thats wrong in every way possible...
They kind of killed Csi when they did that, so it would be nice to keep CM as one and only one tv show... Gosh!!!

It's Ausiello, so I trust him as much as I could throw him. Setting that aside, however, I'd vote nay. I think that spin-offs should bud off from the parent show organically and I don't really feel it with what's been shown so far. It's hard too, to take this show that jets around all over the country and "regionalize" it, to separate it from the parent program. I say false and nay.

I can't see a spin-off really working well here. Another BAU team? I think not. You can have three different CSI teams in different cities, but the BAU is, for television purposes, the one and only. But looking at other departments of the FBI, that could be cool.

Maybe more computer/white collar crimes? That actually might only be exciting for half an episode now that I think about it.

I can see it working, as long as it's not Criminal Minds: The Spin Off. If it's seen as an independent show and not riding on CM's coattails, it won't seem as...I don't know, false?

Maybe one on profilers in training would be interesting.

Without clicking the link, I said Nay. After I clicked the link and read it, I still said Nay.

Hmmm, well if it means MORE awesome characters to enjoy and MORE superbe plot lines, then really I couldn't complain! Some spin offs can be great (Law and Order SVU and CI for example) and others not so great (ahem*CSIMIAMI* IMHO). But if they really think they can make something as good or better (if thats even possible with a show this good)then criminal minds and make a lot of money off of it, then all the power to them! Plus, its not like it has to affect the original Criminal Minds at all, so if it doesn't work out we can just ignore its existence until it goes away ;)

Call me a creature of habit, a hater of change 9not all - some!), a believer in the notion of 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it', but no way do I see this panning out well.
I know spin-offs don't necessarily alter the parent shows, but few really manage to pull it off, and if things go belly up, something like this would have the potential to damage the original CM. It's such a specific concept - behavioral profiling - how on earth could you branch off of that?? Yeesh!
I'm kind of upset now :(

NAY!

This show cannot afford to lose any more of it's cast. And CSI:NY and CSI: MIAMI are nowhere near as good as the original was.
