season 4 wishes

The season premiere is just around the corner and the promos and the tidbits of information we've been getting make me wish that we'd get a new ep every day instead of every week.

But, what do you want to see this season? Which open storylines should be completed first? Whose background do you want to know more about? What would you like to see in season 4?

...More of Emily and her background. I want to know *why* she compartmentalizes better than anyone else. I'd also like to see more scenes with her and Hotch in it, because they make an awesome team. And scenes with her, Reid & Morgan causing trouble around the bullpen. Geeks rock!

I'd like to see a bit less about Morgan and religion. It's a weird storyline that annoyed me in season 3. And i'd like to see more of the witty and sexy banter between him and Penelope. It went away at the end of last season. Hopefully Hotch and Haley won't get back together. And can we see more of New York? It's a fabulous city!

I'd like to see them fail once or twice; maybe not in compiling the profile but when catching the unsub.

Don't know if it'd be authentic, or within budget, but a trip abroad to assist a foreign investigation would be interesting.

As I love watching them interview suspects and using their pyschological techniques to open them up, I'd like more of this.

I agree with the failure idea. They already kinda failed with Frank, but it wasn't because they never found him. I'd like to see how the team takes an actual failure. Do they take it very personally, or do they just say you can't catch them all and move on?

The thing is, i don't really think they have the option of failing. Because if they can't catch him, he keeps killing. So even if they don't catch him right away, they'd keep going till they do get him.

I do like the idea about an ep done abroad. We haven't had one since season 1. Maybe somewhere in Europe.

I'm not sure about this but not all serial killers continue the same killing pattern, for example the Zodiac killer remained uncaught after about 20 years and killed very sporadically according to his situation.

Yeah, but most don't do that. They need a certain fantasy to unfold, and as they devolve they need to kill more and more often. There are very few who would be able to this sort of thing. For them to give up, it would have to be a killer with a long cooling off period.

It'd be nice to see something like the Zodiac though.

As for backgrounds, I want to know more about Prentiss and her mother. How did Prentiss get where she is today? From goth chick to FBI, it would make a good story. I would also like to know more about Hotch. We know his past is pretty dark, but I want details! And not just added in here and there, flashbacks would be great.

Like you, I'd like to know more about Emily, and I think the writers are planning to delve into her character a little more in S.4, so, yay!

I completely agree on the Derek/Penelope banter thing too - Kevin Lynch's appearance kind of ruined all that. It's nice to see her happy and in a relationship, but it ruined the dynamic with Derek.

And YES, more playing around geek-style, with Derek, Emily, and Reid. Something along the lines of Reid's physics magic scene, all over again. And more team moments - everyone relaxing for a while, enjoying each other's company.

I'd also like to see more on Hotch's background. There's so much more to come; he's such a complex character. If they even hint at him getting back with Haley, I'm going to get very, very ticked off (along with most CM fans, I'd like to think)...

I agree with Emily backstory. That'd be lovely. That said, I'd love to see an ep (or set of eps) where we get to see why each profiler chose the BAU. It's not an easy unit. While we know the Reid was recruited, why did the others choose the BAU over other postings?

I'd love more small snippets of the BAU crew off duty. We got some great Garcia moments last season, so it'd be great to see what Hotch is doing with his spare time now that he's divorce or see Morgan working on fixing up the houses or see Emily on a date. I love the crime procedural aspect of the show, but I also love the small personal moments that slip in.

From crime aspect, I'd love to see more variety in the BAU investigations. While over the past 3 seasons we've seen serial rapists and arsonists (and terrorists?), I know that the real BAU also investigates corruption, communicated threats, and crimes against children. It'd be fun to see the unit go undercover for a corruption case.

- Hotch/Emily hints, if not some kind of guilty in-office affair. Not that I ship them particularly, I just think it would be an interesting mistake for both characters to make.

Why was David Rossi married three times? I thought he didnt like to fail. Why wasnt he in photos from ep 2 and 3...I fear for his character.

Garcia is always made of win.....more of Kevin Lynch and definitely more flirting with Morgan.

I love the idea of more hanging out in the bullpen being geeks, just more interactions with the BAU as people and not just profilers. We dont need too much of their personal lives but it would be nice not to just see despicable human beings for an hour.

Did I mention more Emily? Yes, more more more. And more scenes with Emily and Hotch so Ic an have screencaps, icons and fantasies....I mean, oh hell I meant fantasies : )

As much as I love Reid, a bit more torture for the other characters too please and less focus on Reid only.

And I want more background on the girls, especially Prentiss.

It'll be interesting to see how they work JJ's replacement into that. I hope they don't focus too much on her, as JJ will be coming back, won't she?

I'm a native Spanish speaker who mostly watches CM in original version, but now I noticed I happened to watch all the Will episodes with subtitles...You should try it that way :D (being from South America, sometimes I have to watch Spanish movies with subtitles in order to understand anything. True fact :/)

LOL, I know, I know. But as you said yourself earlier, JJ is the most neglected one in the "background and personality" department (although I still love her sfm), so it was no surprise to me the sudden Will thing (especially because it was so obvious a rushed way to justify AJ Cook's pregnancy, lol).

About the accent. I'm not a native English speaker so I can't easily tell when an accent is fake :) (Excepting with Bella from Supernatural, but oh god, was that actress bad...it was impossible not to see that her "British" accent was pure bs :D).

However I do understand how annoying it may be to a native speaker :/

But I still hope Will isn't "sketchy" because JJ deserves betterrr :( (and I think he's still sweet regardless of his accent :P). Besides, if things go wrong, I don't think they will take the JJ/Prentiss road that'd be the only thing to make me feel better about it (omg I want Prentiss so bad to be with JJ and/or Hotch! heh)

Actually 'Bella' is english! Or at least grew up here and speaks with a british accent in real life but yes there was something very off about her accent in the show - I don't know if it was because of the american accents all around or if they asked her to make it stonger or what *scratches head*

Back to Criminal Minds though, I'm not overly fond of Will or his accent but as long as he stays in the background it's not a problem. I have to admit JJ is the character I'm least interested in - I don't dislike her just like the others more.

I'd like to see a consistent backstory for Hotch (and they'd better not forget that he has a brother, even if Sean is an annoying prat), a lot less of JJ and Garcia's hangers-on, an open investigation that runs, or has run, over a very long period of time...

Depends. If you treat certain things like the number of crew members originally on the Red Dwarf, and retcon other things into white lies or half-truths, and work directly with the implications that are strongest (ie the things that have never been--quite--said aloud: Hotch is the character whose story is in the silences), you could produce something that's emotionally coherent if not necessarily adhering to a strict timeline.

I do haveto say I like Hotch's backstory the way it is -- the messed-up timeline completely allows for Hotch to be a child genius and the Hotch/Reid slasher in me adores that. ^^
