From TV Guide.

Starts: 9/20, 9/8c, CBS

Where we left off: In a cliff-hanger, Jason Gideon (Mandy Patinkin) received a decapitated head at his idyllic mountain retreat. All the Behavioral Analysis Unit agents got disturbing messages too, and were called back from vacation. One of them, Elle Greenaway (Lola Glaudini), was apparently shot in her apartment.

Will Elle survive? Yes, but she'll only be around for the first six episodes. "She's going to become afraid of the street," says executive producer Ed Bernero, a former Chicago cop. "What she learns is that there's a level of fearlessness you need to do this job."

Who's in: Joining the team is an older female agent (not yet cast), a specialist in clinical psychology who set up the BAU with Gideon years ago. "She shakes them up," says Bernero, who will use her to reveal personal information about his workaholic agents.

I'm probably being pessimistic, but I really hate the sound of this new character. For one thing, didn't Gideon join the BAU after Max Ryan was already a part of it? And now they're screwing with the continuity so that he set it up with this other agent years ago?

I really hope I'm wrong but it sounds like we're losing a character I was mostly ambivalent about (I really liked Elle in the beginning. By the end, not so much) and gaining one that's going to be another Madame Director (NCIS fans will get the reference - let's just say it is not a good thing.)

Ditto on the NCIS thing. I hope CM doesn't follow in those footsteps.

No, I don't want Elle to go! It won't be the same :( She IS fearless and is vital part of the team. Damn, I hate when TV producers do this type of stuff :( And who else thinks that this older female agent will be a love-interest for Gideon?

As I said, I'm very afraid they're going the whole Madame Director route. Which would make this gal a love interest for Gideon. Think they'll cast Christine Lahti in the role? ::grinning, worriedly::

Oh how I hope not. Christine Lahti is scary! I always confuse her and Christine Baranski, they are equally creepy to me.

I agree they're equally creepy. CM has already shown a willingness to stunt-cast since they had the same actress that played Dr Geiger's love interest play Gideon's love interest. And I can't shake the fact that Mark Harmon and Lauren Holly were both on Chicago Hope, too. Something about that show seems to inspire stupid stunt-casting. So I could just see yet another former member of the Chicago Hope cast coming in as this new person. (I already want to call her Madame Director. Wrong show!)

I really really want to be wrong about this.

This is so vague. They say Elle will only be around for the first six eps? Is Lola leaving the show or what? I hope not because I really do like Elle. I like the friendship she and Morgan have developed.

And I don't like the sounds of this new character either. I agree, I hope she doesn't turn into a Madame Director, although I doubt they'll put her in charge. Or at least, I hope they don't--that will, hopefully, keep the same dynamic from developing. How much do you want to bet that they'll make her a former lover of Gideon's???? *headdesk*

And having to bring in a new character to reveal "personal information" is really the lazy man's way of doing things. *sigh* Why, oh, why do they always have to fuck up my favourite shows? I was really looking forward to CM being my happy place, without too many changes (CSI Vegas has jumped the shark and NCIS??? I'm not happy with it). Guess I might have to start watching Numb3rs to get my no changes happiness, although, with my luck, they'll stop letting Don wear jeans. *sigh*

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that CM won't be too adversely affected by this.

I think I'm going to start watching Numb3rs, as well. Every show I like, without exception, has gone right over the shark, usually right after something that I've been happy about. (I didn't like Kate on NCIS, I didn't like Yelina on CSI:Miami - but those shows both got worse when those actresses left.)

I may start watching Justice on Wednesdays - though I'm not a big fan of SpyDaddy (Victor Garber).

Whatever happens...the show better not lose its quality!

Btw,(going back to what "slash_girl" said about Numb3rs)...does anybody know where I can find episodes of Numb3rs? I'm sorry if I'm not supposed to post this, but I didn't know where else to put it...

I'm not really that pessimistic. It might be good. Hopefully, that is.

Ditto. So long as its not Reid getting written out, I'm happy :)

I said something similar about NCIS. "Oh, at least it's not Gibbs, DiNozzo or Abby that's dead". They STILL managed to fuck up the show.

Trust me, just because your fave character/s is/are still there? Doesn't mean the show won't suffer. But let's hope all us doom and gloom types are way off the mark. Honestly, I hope that I am...but I've been watching TV too long to trust TPTB to do the right thing, sadly enough.

Hmm guess you're right. But I guess I just let the show makers do their own thing.. after all it is their baby. If I dont like how its going I just stop watching.. dont fret about it so much. Very much like fanfiction you know, if author wants to write a certain squick I dont have a taste for, thats fine they have a right to do so, and I have a right to stop reading! Reid I just adore so much :) I'd watch any crap show as long as he's in it haha.

*sighs*

What the fuck is it with dragging female characters that are un-needed into the fucking shows I like lately?

This is twice on two shows that will be starting their second seasons that it seems people are shoving in characters that don't need to be there.

That being said, Elle may be back later in the season or some such - and the female agent doesn't seem to be a huge "love interest" - as it seems Gideon had one at the end of last season. I'd rather they stick with what works - the characters of the TEAM, not the romance between two.

and I agree with NCIS commentary - I think Director Shepard really fucked up the show's original premise.
