Season 2 Spoilers.
Sep. 16th, 2006 04:32 pmFrom TV Guide.
Starts: 9/20, 9/8c, CBS
Where we left off: In a cliff-hanger, Jason Gideon (Mandy Patinkin) received a decapitated head at his idyllic mountain retreat. All the Behavioral Analysis Unit agents got disturbing messages too, and were called back from vacation. One of them, Elle Greenaway (Lola Glaudini), was apparently shot in her apartment.
Will Elle survive? Yes, but she'll only be around for the first six episodes. "She's going to become afraid of the street," says executive producer Ed Bernero, a former Chicago cop. "What she learns is that there's a level of fearlessness you need to do this job."
Who's in: Joining the team is an older female agent (not yet cast), a specialist in clinical psychology who set up the BAU with Gideon years ago. "She shakes them up," says Bernero, who will use her to reveal personal information about his workaholic agents.

Date: Sep. 16th, 2006 09:27 pm (UTC)I really hope I'm wrong but it sounds like we're losing a character I was mostly ambivalent about (I really liked Elle in the beginning. By the end, not so much) and gaining one that's going to be another Madame Director (NCIS fans will get the reference - let's just say it is not a good thing.)

Date: Sep. 17th, 2006 12:30 am (UTC)And I don't like the sounds of this new character either. I agree, I hope she doesn't turn into a Madame Director, although I doubt they'll put her in charge. Or at least, I hope they don't--that will, hopefully, keep the same dynamic from developing. How much do you want to bet that they'll make her a former lover of Gideon's???? *headdesk*
And having to bring in a new character to reveal "personal information" is really the lazy man's way of doing things. *sigh* Why, oh, why do they always have to fuck up my favourite shows? I was really looking forward to CM being my happy place, without too many changes (CSI Vegas has jumped the shark and NCIS??? I'm not happy with it). Guess I might have to start watching Numb3rs to get my no changes happiness, although, with my luck, they'll stop letting Don wear jeans. *sigh*
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that CM won't be too adversely affected by this.

Date: Sep. 17th, 2006 12:37 am (UTC)Btw,(going back to what "slash_girl" said about Numb3rs)...does anybody know where I can find episodes of Numb3rs? I'm sorry if I'm not supposed to post this, but I didn't know where else to put it...

Date: Sep. 17th, 2006 01:17 pm (UTC)Trust me, just because your fave character/s is/are still there? Doesn't mean the show won't suffer. But let's hope all us doom and gloom types are way off the mark. Honestly, I hope that I am...but I've been watching TV too long to trust TPTB to do the right thing, sadly enough.

Date: Sep. 17th, 2006 04:28 pm (UTC)What the fuck is it with dragging female characters that are un-needed into the fucking shows I like lately?
This is twice on two shows that will be starting their second seasons that it seems people are shoving in characters that don't need to be there.
That being said, Elle may be back later in the season or some such - and the female agent doesn't seem to be a huge "love interest" - as it seems Gideon had one at the end of last season. I'd rather they stick with what works - the characters of the TEAM, not the romance between two.
and I agree with NCIS commentary - I think Director Shepard really fucked up the show's original premise.
