The tentative name of the character is Emily Prentiss. The audition side has a description of the character. This is a summary: (parts in the quote boxes are direct from the sides):
CHARACTER NOTE: EMILY PRENTISS is in her thirties and a no-nonsense lady. Daughter of a pair of high-powered diplomats, she grew up abroad, around the lofty heights of government service. Not intimidated by dinner with presidents or heads of state, her parents instilled in her a sense of civic duty, an understanding of giving back.
But she is far from prim. She is equally at home with a hot dog and a beer cheering on her beloved Washington Redskins from the family's season tickets.
In college (degree in pyschology), she saw Silence of the Lambs and decided to become an FBI agent. "[A]ced" the academy ("like she does everything"). Became a field agent, did a bit of everything, but all she really wanted was to be a profiler. She can kick a suspect's ass as easily as she can talk him into jail, and she doesn't really care which way you choose.
She kept applying to the BAU, but was turned down every time. Why -- because of her parents, "no one really trusts you," because they think she had help in getting where she is.
Neither Hotch nor Gideon approved the transfer, and her transfer is a complete surprise.
The test scene is just her and Hotch. Not too much extra to glean from the actual dialogue, but Hotch apparently worked security detail for Emily's mother when he first started in the FBI. That was when Emily started college. Emily says that she's been in the FBI for almost ten years. In the scene, after Hotch says "Look, I appreciate your interest but, profiling is a specialty..." Emily gives a profile for a case that Hotch has on his desk. The scene comments note that Hotch is "impressed."
-----------------------
The description doesn't match the "older agent" spoiler in TV Guide. Sounds like something changed probably due to the "we need younger viewers, so lets bring in a younger series regular" way of thinking. All this could change, but it's what we know so far.
I think she sounds horrible. Maybe instead of Madame Director we're getting Ziva??? (And am I mistaken or are they messing with Hotch's backstory, too? Wasn't he an attorney with the FBI at first? Now he was security detail? Have I mentioned lately that I really hate the writers?)
