"Question: Got any spoilers for Season 2 of Criminal Minds? Is Lola Glaudini leaving the show? In the TV Guide magazine, exec producer Ed Bernero said Elle would only be in the first six eps and that they're casting a new character who's a contemporary of Gideon's.— Stacy

Ausiello: Yes, she's leaving, and yes, they're bringing on a new kickass female detective. The producers' first choice starred in one of our favorite sitcoms of all time. She also dates Ellen DeGeneres. Any guesses?"

Personally, I'll be thrilled if Portia de Rossi joins the cast. I'm extremely sad to see Lola go, but if Portia will be her substitute, I'll definitely keep on watching. Now, if only her character wasn't too Mary Sue-ish...

Every new piece of info we get on this conflicts with every other piece. Portia de Rossi isn't exactly a contemporary of Gideon's - she's 20 years his junior. This fits with the new info, except that according to the new info they haven't yet cast this character.

I'm confused.

But with only six hours and five minutes (but who's counting?) until the new season starts, I'm too excited to worry about this for now!

That was my question! *hee* I tried to post about it from work, but getting to LJ at work involves translation engines and it posted to MY journal but not to this one.

When I emailed, I wasn't sure if he'd be answer it or not...and I guess I should've asked why Lola was leaving, too.

CM is the premiere I have been most looking forward to and waiting for ALL summer! I don't know how I'll last the next 6 hours and 1 minute. I'm not counting, either. *G*

I think I've been looking forward to this since 10:01 PM on May 10. I took today off work because I didn't want to have to focus on meetings and stuff when I knew I'd be bouncing off walls.

In May, I tried to take the day off but they scheduled a really important meeting for that day. I scheduled to take today about 2 months ago!

Great question, btw. Ausiello doesn't much like Criminal Minds, so I'm a little surprised he answered! (I think it's he who referred to it as "inexplicably popular". Sheesh.)

Thanks! I don't think he answered any CM questions over the summer. Maybe he was just throwing us a bone! He seems to like Portia, so maybe he replied just to promote that she'll be on the show...and maybe now he'll like it.

He did say that she was the producers' first choice--that doesn't necessarily mean she got the job/accepted it...and things can move fast in Hollyweird.

Um...excuse me. I can't believe she's going...I'm trying not to read too many spoilers so I may not know as much as everyoen else, but does Lola have a new job or something better to do? Ir did they kill her off?

I think someone said Elle basically becomes afraid of the front line work, or something as lame. No idea why Lola wanted to leave the show, or why the writers wanted to write her off.
