I can't even begin to describe how good of a show that was.
I was sure I was going to die from excitement.
I have so many questions, most retorical, but ideas would be nice.
Then end showed Hotch at Elles place. But woudn't you have gone home to your family first chance you got? Is that going to be a plot line for this season, Hotches family leaves him?(fics have definitely gone there before...before anyone gets too hopeful though I doubt he will leave Haley for Reid, even though some of us would like him to.)
What about Gideon? Is it possible he will have what Reid called a "Major Depressive Episode? He looked pretty broken up between part 1 and 2.
We all know that Elle is leaving, but do we know how? and how many episodes she will appear in?
Morgan, J.J and Garcia look like they're ok...but who knows. Does anyone have any Ideas on that end?
I hope some of that makes sense...I think that is all.
I can't wait for next week.
Cheers XD

Date: Sep. 21st, 2006 02:25 am (UTC)Gideon's on the brink of a "Major Depressive Episode". I think the fact that Elle lives will keep him from going over the edge. But the part with him convincing himself he did the right thing and that Elle would understand was heartbreaking.
I think we're going to see Garcia and Reid this year. Those two were awfully cute together.
I've seen so many conflicting things on Elle leaving that I'm not quite sure what to believe. It's either six or eight episodes, though. I expect to see more from Morgan when that happens. He and Elle are really good buddies.
I didn't think it could live up to my expectations after four months, but it did. I'm exhausted from watching it. I have to go make caps. But one more thing...
What's up with Elle's father calling her "peanut"? Shout-out to Dead Like Me, much?

Date: Sep. 21st, 2006 02:37 am (UTC)I had exactly the same thought. I guess we should've known Elle would live. There wasn't a post-it note around. ;)
And I'm still not coherent about this ep yet. There are a few things that I know I'm going to be thinking about for the next few days, for sure. I really, really liked it and the commercials? Way to long. Best premiere so far.

Date: Sep. 21st, 2006 03:34 am (UTC)It would be perfectly natural for ANY of the team to go through one after this. And actually Gideon is probably in one of the better positions for dealing with it- in my personal experience surviving PTSD flashbacks is hella harder than getting through a MDE, at least the MDEs you know will pass. The tricky part would be his PTSD because the thing with Elle would be exactly the kind of sit to trigger it. Not only that but the whole press conference thing (which comes up fairly often) could very easily turn into a trigger of it's own.
Thx for the peanut thing...
I couldn't keep a straight face when he said it!!!!
It made it kind of hard to be dramatic when all you can do is think about DLM.

Date: Sep. 21st, 2006 04:11 am (UTC)The "peanut" thing took me completely out of the episode, broke the tension and absolutely delighted me. Someday I will post my "shout-out" theory. That's not the first one we've seen. I've caught references to DLM, Chicago Hope, Sunday In the Park with George, Shemar's soap opera and maybe, just maybe, Evita. There's probably some Dharma and Greg in there somewhere, but I never watched that show.
I keep waiting for a reference to The Princess Bride!

Date: Sep. 21st, 2006 05:46 am (UTC)Unless I am totally misunderstanding how a major depressive episode works -- and as someone who suffers from clinical depression -- when a person is in the throes of one, or at least when I am, I don't think it will EVER pass.

Date: Sep. 21st, 2006 06:45 am (UTC)Like I said that's MY personal experience with MDEs and PTSD, and I KNOW it can be different for everyone- like with my BP, I get major MDEs and non-psychotic hypomanias which means that for me (unlike most ppl with BP) I actually prefer my manias to my depressions. And between my BP and my PTSD (curling up in bed and crying for days with SI thoughts versus paranoia with flashbacks and psychosomatic 'injuries', not to mention the self-loathing and gut reactions to triggers from completely innocent situations, like screaming bloody murder and almost hitting your mom when she touches you in the wrong spot or punching some innocent person for bumping into you on a crowded street)- I'll take the MDEs from the BP anyday, at least those don't give me nightmares and make me too terrified to sleep or leave the house or... well you get the idea.
Doesn't make MDEs any less annoying, just puts it in a different perspective for me, I guess.

Date: Sep. 21st, 2006 12:31 pm (UTC)She and Morgan make a better couple. Now, for Garcia and Reid to play off each other?
That would be awesome - and working together as well.
I was DELIGHTED to see they had made her a part of the cast permenantly.
And I LOVED that shout out.

Date: Sep. 22nd, 2006 02:37 pm (UTC)1) Hotch is "dad" to two families. While his own family takes precedent, I don't think for a second Hotch would allow Elle to return home to that. I think Mrs Hotch would have supported that decision also, seeing what Elle went through. He might be tough on the surface, but Hotch cares about people deeply and if he can do a small thing like cleaning up blood, I can always see him doing it.
2) Gideon's mental state has been under discussion since the beginning of the show. While getting a head in a box sent to his "private place" is pretty disturbing, I think it became secondary when he found out about Elle. Gideon seems to be a people person, whether he'd admit to it or not - he seems to cope better when he's working with, looking out for or teaching someone, which is why I think Gideon/Reid was an important thing last series. It could be we'll see more of Gideon/Elle now?
3) No news on Elle leaving, but I'm guessing they'll tie it in to this episode and the things she saw in her dream sequence.
4) Really? I thought part two was awesome, Morgan-wise. He opened up some. Watching his pain and surprise as he learnt more about his collegues really told us what kind of guy he is - he's angry and macho at times, but underneath, he cares passionately about what he does and the people he works with. Him turning the van round the minute he found out about Elle was an awesome scene, and Shemar played it wonderfully. I think Morgan might well be a little softer to certain collegues, and a little more protective. At least for a while, until he's back to winding Reid up :D
Garcia too, showed us her soft side by being gentle with Reid. It would have been easy for her to tear him up after he opened up to her, but the scene was really touching, and I'm hoping we see more of them. They make a really great team, his book-driven genius and her techno-wisdom. Not in a romatic way, but as friends. I think they could teach each other a lot. My hope is that Garcia isn't punished too severely for the security breach.
(About that... were were told, once, that Garner was a computer genius? Did he learn hacking 101 in the sanitorium?! Where did that come from?)
JJ is woefully underdeveloped, still. She was kind of on the perimeter for most of this, as her job is seperate. She's proven to be an interesting foil for several characters though - JJ/Reid, JJ/Morgan and JJ/Garcia were interesting to watch. I don't think we'll see a lot from her character regarding the Fisher King eps though.

Date: Sep. 24th, 2006 07:50 am (UTC)I think it seemed really fitting that Hotch would clean up. He is very considerate and protective of "his" agents - remember him giving Elle his jacket to cover up in Fisher King part 1? I also imagine he wouldn't tell anyone else that he had gone to her house and cleaned up.
One thing is bugging me and it could just be me being thick and missing something - had Randall Warner been holding Rebecca for 2 years? In which case, Reid must have written all that stuff in his letters at least 2 years previously as presumably Warner wouldn't have had access to his mother's journals after that time. Does that sound right?

Date: Sep. 25th, 2006 07:20 am (UTC)Reid has been with the BAU for 3 years so from that standpoint it works, but do we know how long the rest of the team has been together? Ok so we know Gideon, Hotch, Morgan, and Reid have been together (in some form) since before "Boston" (it was Boston right... 3 A.M. is either too early or too late to be trying to remember these things, lol), but what about Elle and Garcia? ...and then there's JJ no way Warner could have known about her from being in the nuthouse with mommy dearest. Aargh, you've made my brain work...... noooooooooooooooooooooooo, lol.
