JJ backstory in upcoming episode

ADAM: The episode airs Jan. 20, and finds the BAU investigating a string of teen suicides in a small Wyoming town. The team believes the deaths are linked, and executive producer Ed Bernero says the case will have a surprising personal connection to J.J.'s childhood.

I automatically swore the team has done teen suicides before but I think I just confused The Popular Kids (season one) and A Higher Power (season three). =/

Anyway, my initial thought about the personal connection is that she may have lost an older sibling to suicide. Feel free to comment and/or speculate below!

I was thinking sibling or close friend. I am so looking forward to this episode though. I honestly don't know what the connection might be, but whatever it is I'm excited for it.

My initial thought was that JJ would have been a teenager around the time Kurt Cobain killed himself and there were lots of "connected" suicides at that time. It could have been a friend/older sibling/romantic interest or she could have even tried herself.

She takes anything in a small town personally though, so it could be nothing. Although they have made her more angsty lately, so my guess would be a best friend from high school killing themselves.

I can't wait for this. Since she's my favorite, I'll take about anything without complaint. It's time those who got a well worked out storyline take a giant step back and let the others have some spotlight. Because despite some earlier allegation, there are people who care for JJ (and other characters who haven't got as much spotlight.) So I'm personally happy to see this coming up.

I am hoping for more backstory on both JJ and Garcia.
And Rossi, even though a lot of people don't seem to be that fond of him, I actually like him more than Gideon, and he has grown on me a lot.

Despite Mandy's conduct, I loved Gideon and was sad to see him go. I absolutely disliked Rossi at first but he def grew on me too. And I really loved his character bits with JJ (and the others, for that matter).

And I'd love to see some more Garcia and JJ bonding. I always love to see them together, they are adorable.

even if the suicide wasn't a friend or relative, if it was someone in her school and her same age it would affect her in a big way. when i was a senior in high school one of the RA's in the guys' dorm shot himself in the head at a local motel. we were a school of about 400 students who lived at school. i didn't know this guy personally, but i still felt it in a big way.

Clarification of JJ's back story (as well as some for Morgan) with references to Hotchner and Reid

During an episode, (I believe it was after Hotchner's wife was murdered by the reaper, and him and JJ were talking on the plane on their way home). JJ revealed to Hotch that she had a necklace that her sister had given her, telling her that no matter what happened, she loved her- then alluded to the fact that she either committed suicide, or was murdered shortly thereafter.
I can't wait for them to dig further, and find out exactly what happened. I'm also a bit curious about Morgan's complete backstory- I mean, I know he was sexually assaulted as a boy (seems like by a religious official, although they've never been totally clear on that) as well as seeing his father shot in front of him when he was nine. I hope they fill in the backstories for both these characters, as well as throw in some flash backs. I really loved the way they presented Reid's back story.
PS- love Mandy as Gideon, really miss the character he did so well.

You might wanna watch Profiler, Profiled (Season 2, Episode 12) for Derek's back story. His problem with God didn't have to do with a religious official but the fact that God didn't intervene in what happened to him as a kid.
