 Summary:  The BAU teams goes to LA to help the team from NUMB3RS to solve a case involving murder and kidnappings.  When they return to the only place they feel safe only to find that safety shaken.

“Assistant Director Eppes”

 

“Hey,  Gorgeous.  How is your day going?”  

“Oh, hey, Handsome, it just got a little better.  What are you doing?” 

“We just got wheels up finally to head home.  I was wondering if you might be free for dinner tonight.”

  “Hhhmm Dinner tonight?  I think I might eat tonight.”

  “Hey….”

  “I’m joking.  I would love to have dinner with you.  What time are you thinking about eating?”

  “Well we should touch down in about an hour.  The best part is that Hotch said we could have tomorrow off of we get our reports done.  So, I thought I would go finish my paperwork then I could come get you and we could go to that Italian restaurant you keep talking about?”

  “That would be terrific, Spencer.  Would you mind if I turned it into a working dinner?”

  “Tori, I suppose, if you would have to but I would much rather a small romantic dinner for you and me.”

  “Who said anything about other people and no romance?  I just need to check to see how many people that they can hold and if I can make reservations.  I would love to be able to use them for the retraining week next month that I’m in charge of.  That reminds me I need to call your boss and see if BAU will participate in the retraining weekend.  Unless you’ll put him on the phone for me to talk to him now?” 

  “Tori!”  

“I know, I know but one of these days you’re going to have to tell them.  They are going to figure it out on their own sooner or later.

  “I know but I’m just not ready yet.”

  “OK, I’ll wait until you’re ready.  I should probably get back to work.  Call me when you land.  Oh, and Spencer.”

  “Yeah, Tori.”

  “I really missed you.”

“I understand, I really missed you too.”

  “Ok OK, love you Spencer.  Bye honey.”

  “Love you too, Tori.”

After he shut down his phone, Spencer walked back to the table on the jet and worked on his report.  As he started his work he was observed by SSA Derek Morgan.

  “Pretty boy, why are you working on your report now?  There will be plenty of time for that when we get back to the office.”

  “I have stuff to do after work.  I want to get done as soon as possible so I can get home as soon as I can.”

  “So you're saying that you are skipping out on us again, Reid?  Last time we had plans to go out after work you had plans, too.  Are you hiding something from us?”

  “No, I just have some prior obligations that I need to keep.”

  Morgan smiled and leaned back in his seat and thought that he needed to figure out what is going on with Spencer.

  “Maria, Can you get me SSA Aaron Hotchner’s cell phone number for me?  I also need the location of Agent Ian Edgerton, please.”

  “Right away, Ma'am and you have some trainees out here who have some questions on qualifications they need to finish.”

  “Go ahead and send them in.  Let me know when you have my information.”

  “Ok, Boss, talk to you in a few minutes.”

  The three of the newest trainees walked in with their questions.  As Tori waited for her phone calls, she helped the trainees the best that she was able.  After the new trainees walked out of her office her phone began to ring.

  “Yes”

  “Tori, I found out that Agent Edgerton is currently working a case out of the LA field office.  I dialed Agent Hotchner’s phone for you on line one.”

  “Thank you, Maria, Agent Hotchner; this is Assistant Director Tori Eppes.  Thank you for taking my call.”

  “No problem Assistant Director.  What can I do for you?”

  “I’m working on a refresher week for the directors and assistant directors.  I sent you an e-mail last week about it.  Did you receive that e-mail? “

“Yes, I did receive it.  I had a chance to review it and we would be honored to be able to speak during the week.”

“I’m sure you saw that there are two ways for you to share your knowledge during the week.  Do you have a preference between them?”

“It doesn’t really matter to me.”

“Well, how about I send you the available time I have and you can look through those and decide what sessions would work the best into your schedules.  I also have an option that you might not have thought of for this week.  I have actually had people do a large group presentation then make available some small group sessions so that if people have questions or just want to know more information they can get the information from you.  I’ll e-mail you the list tomorrow morning, then you can talk to your team and let me know what works for you and how you want to proceed.”

  “I’ll talk to my team and get back to you at the beginning of next week.”

  “Thank you, Agent Hotchner.  If you have any questions feel free to e-mail or call me.  If I’m not available if you call, my assistant can answer most questions, if not just have her leave me a message and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.”

  “I will.  Have a good day, Ma’am.”

  “You too, Agent.”

“Maria, could you get me Agent Edgerton on the phone please?”

  “Yes, Right away, Tori.”

  “Oh, and, Maria, when Spence gets here just go ahead and send him on in.”

  “OK, no problem.”

  Tori’s private phone rang.

  “Eppes.”

  “Hey, we just landed.  I probably have an half hour to hour of paperwork to finish.  I’ll be up after I’m done.”

  “That sounds good.  I might not be able to get away right when you get here, but you are welcome just to sit and wait in my office.  I’m working on a surprise for you.”

  “That sounds good to me.  I’ll see you then, Sexy.”

  “Later, Handsome, my office line is ringing, I got to go.  Talk to you later.”

  After she hung up her cell phone she switched to her desk phone.

  “Eppes”

  “Hey, Tori what’s up?”

  “Nothing much, Ian.  I’m just trying to get everything lined up for the refresher week.”

  “Oh, sounds like loads of fun. “

  “Well we can’t all have the jobs where can just pick our assignments.  Plus some of us didn’t get to pick up and move in with their lover in California.  I was wondering if you would come and run the firearms certification for me.”

  “I don’t know if I want to be away from LA that long.”

  “Well, what if I told you that I am working on getting your better half to come out and teach a couple of sessions? If I could make that happen would you be willing to come then?”

  “Oh, you know what, just because you treat me so well. I’ll do it for you even if you can’t work that out for me.”

  “Thanks, now if I can get the other sections filled.  If you let me know what stuff you need I’ll order they supplies for you.”

  “OK, I’ll need the approximate amount of number attendees that will be there.”

  “I’ll have Maria shoot you an e-mail with the numbers I’m looking at tomorrow morning.”

  “I’ll look at it tomorrow, then shoot you e-mail at the beginning week.”

  “Sounds like a plan.  Is your certification coming up any time soon?”

  “Yes, next week.  Why?”

  “I thought so; I have another favor to ask then.  Would you come out and recertify along with me?”

  “I really would but…”

  “Ok OK, no big deal, I can do it on my own.  I just know that I do better with friends shooting along side me.  I’ll send you an e-mail with the schedule of your times next week.”

  “That would be good.  Just remember to keep me updated on the numbers coming, that way I will know if I’m going to need more time or not.”

  “Hey, Ian, just so you remember the FBI leadership isn’t the only group coming.  The whole alphabet soup is coming along with state, county and local leaders.  We are offering the firearm certifications to all of them.  Do you think that will be a problem?”

  “No, I don’t think that will be a problem.  I’ll have to look at the regulations in the different agencies.”

  “If you need help cutting the red tape give me a call, and I can get that information for you.”

  “Ok OK, I’ll let you know.  Later.”

  “Later.”

Dr. Spencer Reid finished his paperwork and walked it into Supervisory Special Agent Hotchner’s office.  After he knocked on the door he waited for Aaron to acknowledge his presence.

  “Yes?”

  “Hotch, here is my report.  Do you need anything else?”

  “I have a favor to ask.  This AD is planning a retraining week and wants to do at least one session.  Could I get you to help me get together the information for the presentation?“

  “Sure, that is not a problem.”

  “I will probably need you to plan, and probably be there to when we present.”

  “Sure, that won’t be a problem.  I do have a favor, though, can it wait until Monday?”

  “Yes, but I want to get your opinion on how we present.  The AD,  that is in charge gave us three different options and I want to get everyone’s input on the best way to present.”
