Summary: The BAU teams goes to LA to help the team from NUMB3RS to solve a case involving murder and kidnappings. When they return to the only place they feel safe only to find that safety shaken.
“Well, in the interest of time, why don’t instead of asking us individually, ask us all at once. Let’s get everyone together in the conference room and discuss it. Then we could get a consensus in a lot less time.”
“Sounds like an excellent plan. I’ll grab Rossi and call JJ and Garcia. Why don’t you grab Morgan and Prentiss and meet in the conference room."
Hotch picked up his phone to call JJ and Garcia, and then he headed to Rossi’s office. Reid went to Morgan’s office, then with Morgan in tow headed to Prentiss’s desk. Then the three of them went into the conference room. As the team gathered in the conference room, Reid glanced at the clock and realized he has plenty of time as long as the meeting didn’t take too long. Spencer decided against sending Tori a text message while Hotch filled the team in on the information that he had already shared with Reid. As Hotch began to describe their options for presenting, Reid began to listen to his boss.
“So, what we need to decide is which of the three options that we want to do.”
Morgan asked the team, “Why are we doing this anyway?”
“This is a good chance to make sure that people that everyone knows we are here and what we can do to help in their area. The FBI’s leadership knows we are here but this week isn’t just for the FBI brass. This week is also for the brass of other federal agencies along with the local level brass. Just think what we can achieve, the amount of people we can reach by doing this.”
“Hotch, how are the sessions set up?” asked Rossi.
“The large group presentations are held in the early evening. While the small group sessions are held during the day and last either forty- five minutes or an hour and half.”
The team sat and thought about the options that they are given.
Reid suggested, “What would you say to doing both? We could put a day between them.”
“That might work, but I have two questions. First, why do you think we should do both? The secondly why do them a day apart?” Hotch asked for clarification for himself as well as for the team.
“Well I thought that if we did both then everyone gets an overview about what we do, then anyone with questions could sign up for a small group session. We could also have one of the sessions describe how to best use the BAU as a resource. The day in between allows those participating the time to sign up for the small group. In the interest of using the resources to the best of their availability, they sign up before the large group session for the next day’s small groups. This means that if there isn’t interest in a session, the presenter doesn’t have to show up or can attend one of the other sessions.“
“Those are both good points. Unless someone has an objection, I think that we will use Spencer’s idea and set up both size sessions.”
Hotch looked around and saw only agreement to Spencer’s plan, he smiled. “OK, then that is what I’ll sign us up for. I think we will do the small group sessions in pairs and unless anyone has a problem I’ll just assign the pairs. Unless someone has a problem or question….OK get out of here, get your reports to me and enjoy your day off. I’ll see you all Monday.”
As the team began to break up, Spencer said goodbye to them. Spencer stopped by his desk for his suitcase and his messenger bag then headed to the doors of the department. He quickly made his way to the bank of elevators. After he checked around Spencer hit the button to call for the elevator heading up instead of down. As he waited he thought about the latest case and the people who lost their lives. He tried to get his mind off of those people, so he started to think about the restaurant where Tori had wanted to go for dinner. When he heard the ding that announced the arrival of the elevator, he looked around again then stepped into the elevator not really noticing the eyes watched him.
As the doors closed behind Spencer, Garcia walked to her office and turned on her screen and pulled up the cameras that showed the inside of the elevators. She watched as the young genius rode the elevator up to the administrative level. She frowned as he stepped off the elevator and disappeared.
“What’s up, Baby doll?”
“Just wondering why our resident genius just got off the elevator at the administration level. What do you think he was doing? You don’t think he is in trouble do you?”
“Baby doll, I’m sure he is fine. He might have had a question about his check. Don’t worry we can talk to him about it on Monday. He probably was worried that is would take a while, so he couldn’t go out tonight.”
“Ok, I’ll try not to worry about him. Let’s get going, I’m ready to party. I’ll grab JJ and Prentiss. Will you check to see if Hotch and Rossi are coming? Then we can all meet at the elevators.”

“I guess I can’t put it off any longer…. Maria, can you pull the file for Dr. Charles Eppes? He is a bureau consultant. His file is probably in with the LA group. That is who he consults with most of the time. Before you do, that can you get me Special Agent Don Eppes out of the LA office for me?”
“Yeah, sure you want me to bring the file in when I find it?”
“That would be good, but hold making the phone call until you get back. I just remembered I have another call I need to make so I’ll be on the phone. Hold the other calls or send them to voice mail please. Anyone who knows me knows to call my cell if it is an emergency.”
“Ok, OK Boss.”

“Office of the all knowing, how may I help you?”
“What?! I am trying to reach a Ms. Penelope Garcia. This is Assistant Director Tori Eppes.”
“Uh , uh this is Penelope Garcia. How my I help you, Ma’am?”
“Yes, Ms. Garcia, I am planning a training week for high level brass from many of the federal and local law enforcement agencies. I have been setting up many small group sessions. I was wondering if you could conduct a couple of sessions to show them what you do and how you go about your job. I was hoping that you might be able to convince Mr. Kevin Lynch to help you.”
“We could do that.”
“I will send the schedule of time I have available, if you could get with Mr. Lunch and pick three or four times and get back to me. I would greatly appreciate it.”
“I can do that, Ma’am.”
“Thank you Ms. Garcia. I appreciate the time you are able to allow me. Oh, and Ms. Garcia if you could please make an effort to answer the phone in a more proper way please. I am looking forward to hear from you soon.”
As she hung up the phone she heard a knock on the door.
“Enter, oh, you found the file, thank you, Maria. Can you go ahead and put through the call to the LA office, please.”
“Right away, Ma’am”
