So I was watching 'Zoe's Reprise' the other day and the part in the beginning where Rossi gets his 'I'm a best selling author, here let me read to you' on made me think. He writes about previous cases, about his experiences in the BAU, about the mental processes of his unsubs, about methodology and tactics and what have you in relation to his work in catching and assisting in catching bad guys.

I have to assume that real profilers/ cops/ detectives/ agents/ doctors have written books about their experiences as well. Does anyone know of any novels in the the same vein as the ones Rossi writes? The only things I can find at the local Barnes n' Noble are True Crime, which read fictional detective stories.

Have you any of you read the tie-in novels by Max Allan Collins?

I'm looking for opinions to help me decide whether they're worth checking out. Personally, I was fairly spectacularly unimpressed with the Bones tie-in of his that I read, but I know people who've really enjoyed his CSI ones, so I'd love to know whether the Criminal Minds ones are any good.

Mostly I'd like to know whether he seems to have a grasp of the characters and how they interact and whether it seems like he really knows the show. I get so frustrated when I read tie-in novels by authors who've clearly never even watched the show in question and mess up details and character points all over the place.

Any opinions much appreciated!

So, what happens when your resident bookseller gets bored at work? I look up random stuff, that's what.

Apparently the first of what is to be a series of Criminal Minds novels is hitting stores on the 6th of November. Details (though not many) can be found here.

Just thought I'd let you all know!
