Gideon and Elle

Is it just me, or would anybody love to know what Elle and Gideon are up too now? Maybe Elle could come back for an episode? I see that more likely than Gideon returning. I heard Lola Glaudini left on pretty good terms while Mandy Patinkin didn't.

It would be interesting to see what Elle's up to now like, maybe she finally checked into a psych ward, even though I kind of hated her character. And even though Mandy Patinkin left on bad terms, I'd like at least some dialogue about what happened to his character. Like...Reid gets a letter or something.

I frakking love both Elle and Gideon, which I know makes me an anomaly in this fandom, but idefc. I doubt Mandy would ever come back, not so sure about Lola, but Elle's story was left more open-ended so there are many storytelling possibilities there. I would love to see her back in sex crimes or something and have to interact with the team on a case and I could enjoy her mad chemistry with Hotch again

You're not alone! I loved Elle and Gideon too and it would awesome if we could see where they're at now. Elle's story would probably be more exciting though. And that chemistry w/ Hotch would be nice to see again... as long as it results in jealous Emily which would ultimately lead to Hotch/Emily.

After last week my friend and I were thinking of ways to make the spinoff less fail (which resulted in us basically gutting and recasting the whole thing) and negl, I'd totally be on that if Elle were one of the characters. I could definitely see her being recruited to some "off the grid" team or something.

If Elle was on the spin-off I would defintely watch it (as long as the other characters were tolerable). What new team did you come up with? Personally, I'm tired of the stereotypes they used. Really, couldn't they be more original than "cute, smart, blond" (I've not nothing a smart blondes, but it's used way too often. Go find a red-head for cryin' out loud) or "hot hero w/ an accent who is full of himself." He was cute for about the first two minutes then he kept talking and got on my nerves.

That would be awesome! And is it just me or has Emily been picking up on Elle's more aggressive tendencies lately? Didn't she tackle or get in some guy's face a couple episodes ago? And the way she went off on Morgan at the end of this episode reminded me of when Elle snapped at Hotch about getting shot.

I have no idea if it's intenional from the writers' part, but Emily's become much more affected by the cases this season. Her trademark compartmentalisation is clearly cracking!

re: Elle versus Emily

I heart both of them, and in spite of being dark haired and pretty, I always read them as very different types, with Emily being closer to a counterpart of Hotch, and Elle being a mix of Reid and Morgan.

Both Emily and Hotch came from good family where their emotional needs weren't met, both have same-gendered parents who was very very Alpha, emotional neglect in the case of Emily, maybe physical abuse in the case of Hotch (I would believe emotional ones too, like, "don't be such a queer and toughen up). I don't believe that either Emily or Hotch had been sexually abused as a child, or if they had, it would not have been by a parent?

Emily is Alpha aggressive, she's provocative, she's in charge, she challenge authority because she could be that authority.

Elle on the other hand, was more reactive, more fragile, even before Fisher King, the way she handled the rapist/stalker in "Broken Mirror" tells me it's personal, she's getting back at them, for something done to her. Her reactions are more in line with Morgan (victim of Buford), and Reid (victim of bullying, in one incident, he was stripped naked and tied to a football post, when he was /12/, and there was a story called Blindfolded Innocence which stipulate that an opportunist had sexually assaulted him after his classmates left, and it was belivable...)

Unpopular opinion here: I don't want Elle back! I didn't like her character neither the actress, she was too......too much.
