UPDATE: CBS' 'Criminal Minds' Cuts Female Cast But Will Add New Female Cast Member

UPDATE TUESDAY 11AM: A source close to CBS stressed that the casting changes on Criminal Minds were a creative, not financial decision, and a way to "refresh a veteran drama series." A new regular female cast member will be brought in sometime next season to fill the void that will be left by Cook's departure.

Perhaps this is all a behind-closed-doors agreement between Cook and series creators/CBS. Maybe she has her own reason for leaving, and they've taken the opportunity to make creative changes as well. That's the only way this will make any sense, and the only reason behind all this that I could accept. I mean, if AJ wants to do something new, more power to her! I'll miss JJ, a lot, but that's irrelevant if AJ wants out.
