Former Dirty Sexy Money star Bellamy Young will guest in an upcoming episode of Criminal Minds as Beth, a museum curator who meets Hotch (Thomas Gibson) in the park while he’s training for triathalon.

The episode also guest stars Charles S. Dutton, playing a boxing trainer at a Philadelphia gym.

Before the start of the season, showrunner Erica Messer teased a new romance for one of the agents, but declined to give details. She had also hinted, however, that she wanted this season to see a new beginning for Hotch, whose ex-wife was killed a few season ago. “Hotch … has been going through the motions of raising a child as a single working parent and mourning the loss of a great love,” she told EW after the premiere. “And even though he and Haley were divorced, she was his first love, his only life and all that. We’d really like him to smile again and let go of that. It’s going to be new and exciting for all of us and the audience.”

I'd love for Hotch/Prentiss, but I'm completely fine with this since Hotch deserves to be happy after his divorce and Haley's death.

I completely agree with everything.

My only problem with any of this, other than the obvious where is going to find time thing, is that even though I'm an avid fanfiction reader I'm almost completely against any of the team finding a love interest, at least on screen, just because I believe that that's not what this show is about. Yes I thoroughly love when we get more insight into a character it's just that it's hard to balance delving into love lives when there is, what, 7 people on the team and what this show is supposed to be about. This show needs to go back to it's grassroots and dealing with the cases. And yes I'd like to see Hotch happy and moving on but I think that I'd rather see this offscreen and just have it referenced. Of course we'll need to see the meeting but I really don't want it to be focused on... unless she's going to be an UNSUB.

I honestly feel like the whole Caroline plot line was absolutely pointless. PLUS a lot of my family died from ALS so I'm really picky about that subject. I just don't feel like it has any real baring on the show especially it was only what 2 or 3 episodes if I'm not mistaken. And he didn't even to seem to be dramatically effected by it, no absence from the show. I know they referenced that he had a bit of one.

I just think that anyone on the team, especially Hotch, having a relationship with anyone that's not in any kind of law enforcement is kind of a ridiculous notion. And even that has strain (JJ and Will, which oddly enough is one of the only love lives I fully support on screen). I just think this whole notion is ridiculous and unnecessary.

Really I think my only problem with any of them (I guess I'll say minus JJ) having a love interest onscreen is that I feel like focusing time on that it not only takes away from the cases but also the team dynamic, which is really what they need to be focusing on after the clusterf**k of last season. Little glimpses here and there should be fine but I don't really want them to make this a major point of any of the episodes.

Now let's see if they can surprise me. So I guess I agree with you one that it will all come down to how its written and played.

Of all the things I've seen adn enjoyed this season, the Rossi's 1st wife thing was pointless. I didnt mind that she came back but the storyline they chose was silly. And it distracted from two interesting cases, and brought me out of what was really going on for 5 or 6 minutes of silly storyline.

I love JJ and Will and it was good to see them this week. I also happen to love Garcia and Kevin, I know a lot of people dont, but they work together and its where they spend their time together.

Anyhoo, I would love for the show to focus on awesome cases and team dynamic and little else. Yeah, give us references to off-screen lives and the occasional showing of Jack cuz he's just so cute, but I agree that off-screen is better and the majority of the show focuses on the team and the cases. Because I also feel that some characters will end up getting more "personal" play than others and you still will find out nothing about someone. You know?

Five years she's been on the show and other than the BS secret agent storyline that I loathed, we know nothing about Emily Prentiss. We still dont even know where Hotch was born. There is so much to give us as fans of the characters instead of bringing in new stuff that no one quite cares about.

I completely forgot about Garcia and Kevin! OMG! I love them. It kinda bothers me that they're hardly referenced. And I completely agree with that. They work together and they work on the same thing... they're both analysts and completely get each other.

I'm glad someone agrees with me. And if they MUST deal with love lives I think they should just focus on furthering the relationships they do have instead of cultivating new ones.

Hell they really need to bring Sean back (Hotch's brother) has he been in Jack's life at all? Anyways I completely agree. Even before Prentiss' season 6 departure we barely new anything about her. There's a lot we don't know about so much of the team. I think we know the most about Reid, Garcia, and Morgan. Everyone else is kind of left in the lurch. They can give us personal stories without involving some love interest. And if they absolutely feel the need it needs to be with someone else in some kind of law enforcement. I just don't see anyone else really understanding what they go through daily. And yes, I think they'll focus mainly on one or two characters and leave the other alone and we still won't know much about the characters.

Sometimes I feel like they give us more background on the people they introduce for a couple of episodes than the people we've been with for 7 years.

Really the only thing I enjoyed with Caroline plot-line is that we found out that Rossi had a child that died on the same day it was born. I definitely cried that episode but I'm not sure if it was really that sad or it was more that my uncle, my gradfather, and two of my granpa's brothers died from ALS.

Anyways I really think that all of this stuff just distracts from the interesting cases they present and the possibilities of learning more about the regular characters. And I really wasn't a fan of this last episode. There was a cute moment or two in it but really... not one of this season's best.

You know, at this point I'd even like to know more about Strauss than them introducing a new love interest for anyone.

I actually loved this last episode. Really really did.

Garcia and Kevin are epic in their awesomeness. I just squee'd when I found out Garcia was gonna be dating Xander...what could be more perfect?

And I love Erin Strauss too and want more stuff about her. She's one of my favorite characters to write about so if they give us more of her, and more Jayne Atkinson, whom I love, sign me up. I wish she could be more recurring. But there are like 15 more episodes to go this season so I'll enjoy what I can because for the past 2 seasons I was just more and more disappointed with each passing week so looking forward to the show again has been awesome. Maybe I'll just enjoy that. Oh, and cross my fingers we learn something about Emily (even if it contradicts/screws with 3 years of fic writing).

Yeah I freaked out when I saw him. I was watching it with my mom and I'm like "OMG IT'S XANDER!"

Wednesday's episode was amazing! I won't say why cause don't want to give any spoilers to people who haven't seen it. But LOVED it... this season is so much better than last season.

My mom and I were both Buffy fans so yeah, pretty much squee'd through the entire hour. Its one of her favorite eps.

Wednesday was definitely amazing. Season 7 has some of the best writing and acting I've honestly seen since early Season 4. I am so happy every week to have the show I fell in love with back.
