I missed the first 15 minutes and caught on right when they say there is another storm coming up (after Hotch just left a boy in the interview room?). What happened?
Someone is abducting and murdering teen boys when major storms are coming, like tornadoes, and hides their bodies in the storm-damaged areas to make them look like casualties of the storm.
Meanwhile, JJ and her hubby are fighting because she doesn't have a nine-to-five job anymore.
I don't know, most of the times I feel that there's too much focus on Reid, I'd rather have a season where Reid's kept in the background, so the other characters can get some attention for a change.
...is how its most scariest unsubs (the crazy ones you can't reason with), are fucking scary, but you can't hate them, because poor poor bastards. Like that lady in Uncanny Valley, it would be the horrors to be one of her victims, drugged repeatedly, wig sewed onto your sculpt, alone with the loony, but could you hate her if you know why she's wrecked like this?
Even that female dominant killer in The Perfect Storm, at the end, she was screaming, "I promise you she'll never be the same.", she was relieving her own trauma, the sexual sadism was more psychodrama than sexual thrill, for her. Hotch sometimes slams the unsub around or is otherwise very rough when he takes them in, but not that time, you could see the pity in his eyes.

And that's precisely why it was in the presence of her victims that Reid confronted her, explained that he understood why she'd turned out as she had, and did the heartbreakingly simple thing necessary to neutralize her as a threat. (Being kidnapped, immobilized, and ill-used by a disturbed person who snapped under a father's abuse? Those are moccasins Reid's walked in, thank you.)
Ok, someone really needs to tell the CM writers that even though this show's been on for many seasons, they don't need to bring out the ultra-bizarre every week. "ordinary" serial killers, good writing, character development (by which I don't mean recycling another character's arc from an early season). That's what we want.
I liked the JJ family time, because it adds to her character. Plus, by parallel, Hotchy as well, oh god, that uncomfortable moment when JJ was talking about her flight back to her not-murdered husband.
I think, with such a huge assemble cast, it's healthy for each character to take turns having more focus in one episode than to try and split it even everytime, that's just going to lead to not enough time for everyone. Last one it was Rossi, this one it's JJ, next week it's Garcia angst timez...
Well, after having like blockbuster episodes of Season 7 so far, I guess it was only a matter of time for the writers to just do an "lol" worthy episode...or watch Frankenstein too many times while drinking.
/or watch Frankenstein too many times while drinking./
Totally what happened.
I'll really like it if there was more continuity porn, like, before they realise why the unsub was chopping up the victims, how about bringing up Frank? Or did they do it in the first 15 minutes when I missed it by showering too long because the guy outside my window said I had a nice voice and asked for an encore?
I really like the big brother character and actor, it really came across that he's a big brother.
I was a little leery of this episode from the outset, to be honest. When I first saw that they were going to do a story featuring tornadoes after everything that happened this spring/summer, it seemed a little ... tasteless? (I can't really think of a good adjective right now.) I am always a little put off when CM and other dramas use real-life emergencies and catastrophes to frame a fictional situation aimed at entertainment, but that could just be me being a little hyper-sensitive. :(
That being said, I thought that they incorporated the aspect of the storms in ... well, okay, it was pretty insane, but at least it was done in a pretty creative way. The focus wasn't so much about communities being devastated by the storms (which is what I was concerned about) but rather on the circumstances of one particular loss and how that impacted the unsub.
Also, Reid was pretty and spent a good minute staring out a window looking pensive. I can live with that. :)
I'm in Toronto, and there is a storm outside now, the trees are thrashing and the lights flickered a moment ago, I hope it doesn't go out, I don't want Tim Curry messing me up!
Cool episode so far, I'm about halfway through. Also, the bad guy who gets caught in the twister is named "Gulch"? Criminal Minds, I see whut you did thar.
As much as it pains me to say this, through all the debris flying around I think I may have glimpsed a few fins in the water.
I love this show; I've been hooked since the first season, even though I really don't care for Mandy P. and wanted to drown Gideon almost every week.
I even liked the Prentiss exit arc, which a lot of people seemed to hate.
Season 7: Having the team back together is pretty much enough to make me happy. I think, though, that the writers need to dial it back a little - each week doesn't have to be more bizarre than the one before. Just give us consistent characterization, creepy unsubs, and good team interaction and we'll meet you here every Wednesday as long as TPTB lets us.
Srsly? Cause that would be awesome details, and um, YIKES!
Awww, Gideon is an acquired taste. For me, the important thing to remember is that he started the series as a PTSD case who never recovered, and just steadily got worst. I think he really WANT to kill himself at the end, in the cabin, but he was thinking of Reid finding his body, so he wrote the letter instead...and that it's actually very possible he killed himself after walking off, and that's why we haven't heard from him.
Mandy has pretty eyes. I know he's thrice my age, but I still want to do things to this man.
I don't mind bizarre if it's workable, if it feels real, and this episode didn't...I feel bad for the kid, his actor came through, but the whole storyline wasn't carried out very well.
It's nice to have a non-sexually motivated killing though, that sounds weird...
I've been mulling over a plot bunny where woman in a Big Sisters program has been kidnapped and killed, by an unsub who was protected by her Big Sister until she was abandoned...and Garcia or Emily be in the program and sympathize with the unsub. Can't decide which. Garcia lost her parents in a car crash and it really depressed her, family is important, and she's like girl!Reid so they'll have something more to bond about. Emily on the other hand, is the acting Big Sister of the group, has her own issues, but she'll probably have less time.

This one, like Garcia said, poor kid indeed.
