Didn't have a chance to see it on Tuesday like I usually do (bad CTV!) but I saw a preview ad for it last night, and it looks like an awesome, Reid-centric episode!
Garcia: "I'm not a doctor, nor do i play one on tv, but i do believe that our JJ is going into labour" Prentis: Really? Hodge: I"LL GET THE CAR!
Reid "You guys broke into my appartment to watch General Hospital?" Rossi: "The Young and the Restless...."
"I just hope he doesn't inherit that accent!" - prentiss
JJ: Its up to you and Garcia to get him into Yale. Reid: *to Henry* Yale? That was your godfathers safety school. I"ll get you into cal tec in one call.
I loved Hotch and Morgan watching the Young and the Restless. I loved Prentiss hung over and JJ going into labor. I loved Garcia being flirty when Hotch and Prentiss were standing right behind her and the look on Hotch's face while she was doing it. I loved Hotch getting the car. And I definitely loved Diana Reid.
Moving episode, fantastic episode. Could you see Reid and Garcia raising a kid together....that would be some good times.
But Reid is THE LAST person I would have chosen as the godfather. Emily wants a kid, Hotch has a kid and it seems almost anyone else on the team would be better qualified.
I think that the choice really underscores the sibling-like relationship JJ and Reid have now (as opposed to in the beginning of the show). Asking Hotch to be godfather might have served to remind him of essentially losing Jack, and JJ's only known Rossi for a year. I'm not sure why she didn't choose Morgan or a relative of Will's...
As for godmother choice, I'm thinking time was the deciding factor on the choice of Garcia. While JJ and Emily are close friends, JJ's known Garcia longer. Plus, I'm not sure what Emily's deal with kids is. She clearly wants them, but seems a bit hesitant as well. I'm not sure if that goes back to her issues with her own mother, or if it's part of her currently unknown past.
Sorry to go on, but your comment really made me think! Thanks :D
Anyone else interested by Emily's word choice in "donor" rather than "man" when talking to Agent Todd and JJ?
That seems to imply she wants a child of her own, but doesn't seem so interested in the boyfriend/husband/partner who provides the other half of the DNA.
Or maybe I'm reading too much into it :D
In any case, I cannot WAIT until we get more backstory on Emily.
I didn't actually think much of that, but it's interesting. It could be that Emily knows she wants a child but isn't really on the market for a romantic partner. Reminds me of when I was little and all my family fantasies included wonderful, obedient children but rarely a husband.
prentiss: "JJ got the last viable donor" hotch: "donor for what?" prentiss: "uhh.. nothing."
LOL
omg best episode ending ever! but, i didn't really get godfather thing. adorable as shit, yes. but it didn't make a whole lot of sense to me since we haven't seen a lot of Reid/JJ friendship stuff.
JJ is the master of the BAU. the new girl has a lot more to learn. i'm a bit worried. i loved prentisses "agent todd, i hope youre ready. your job starts now" line. delivery was perfect.. and i couldnt help but shout "HA! neeewbie!" when she was like oshit D: looking at the office.
yay for reid closure. that boy doesnt need any more trauma.
I think that the end was so adorable. I'm so glad that the whole team (with the exception of the boys in vegas) took the time to take JJ to the hospital and stay with her. I love her choices for godparents. We haven't seen much Reid/JJ friend stuff but the stuff we have seen has been pretty poignant (him talking to her about the baby, her baby being in the dream). And she and Garcia are BFFs so that makes total sense.
Other news, I love Mama Reid more than anything. Everytime she's in an episode I get goosebumps. I'm so glad that Reid's dad wasn't the killer and that he wasn't abused. I mean, I love a good ole torture reid plot, but come on, how much more can the poor boy take?
And Eeeee. Josh stewart! Hi! I missed you.
I love that Rossi made sure to correct Reid about which soap they were watching. Obviously, A CBS show would not allow days of our lives to be shown on their screen.
Pfft. JJ>Jordan. I like her but her intro was too cutesy. It has tainted my view on her.
i love Josh Stewart and i love Will. he's hot and he and his accent is pure love. and he reminds me of Jake Gyllenhaal for somehow, actually, he reminds me Jake's character from Brokeback Mountain, Jack. maybe it's the accent or something but i have the hots for both of them 8D.
Late because I was doing a ride-along for my criminology class.
- Ha, Prentiss and her hangover. Someone had fun last night.
- Morgan shares my "Reid's dad killed his childhood" theory! *squee*
- Oh HELL no. You do NOT get to make judgements and act like you know Spencer.
- O.M.F.G. I just realized that Reid's dad killed the guy who killed Reilly because it could have been Reid. He was protecting him.
- I love how the team is prepared and on the ball for JJ's labor. They've totally run this drill fifty times. Hotch kept time and made them do it over and over again until they could get JJ and everyone on the move to the hospital in under five minutes.
- Watching the three of them together, it's really uncanny how much MGG looks like Jane Lynch and the guy who plays his father. Kudos, casting department.
- Reid. With the baby. Ow. My ovaries just exploded.
YAY, GARCIA ♥♥♥ Yeah, I know, she was a very small part of the episode, but I've missed her Garcia-ness terribly. She was so adorable when she realized that JJ was having contractions. I'm still a little whiny about Emily not being godmother but Garcia isn't exactly a bad choice.
LOL @ Rossi and Morgan watching The Young and the Restless. And I aww'd when I realized they'd stayed behind for Reid. I pouted a little about Emily not being there, though, she and Reid have been so BFF-ish lately.
Reid holding the baby (Henry?) was so cute. I'm a little disappointed that he wasn't around for JJ going into labor, though, as I imagine it would have been hilarious.
Words cannot express my love for Mama Reid. I was even feeling a little warm toward Daddy Reid by the end, whereas in the beginning I kept muttering, "punch him. hard. in the face." Lots and lots of love to Reid, of course. Poor guy was trying so hard to keep his cool and control and it just wasn't working. The bit where he gave his two grand in poker winnings to the hooker was pretty nifty, too.
So many wonderful lines in this episode, I just want to bask in them.
Was I the only one who was a little... I don't want to say disappointed, but I can't think of a better word, at the ending? It was all Reid-centric with the JJ sub-plot, and for the most part its ANGSTRAGEANGSTANGST. Ending it with the hospital was almost too forced, I thought. Don't get me wrong, it was cute and I adored it, but I felt as though the writers did it just so the episode would end on a happier note.
Of course, this is just how I perceive it. xD;;
But I really loved this episode. I'm glad that it WAS more Reid-centric; I always feel like I never see enough of him in the episodes.
I enjoyed it but it did feel like the writers just kind of tacked it on. I can understand the reasoning though, since Reid episodes are usually angst extreme as you mentioned and they wanted to switch it up maybe.
It was a good episode and I'm glad it didn't go overboard on the Reid-pain, but...
No, sorry, Spencer's Dad, I dislike you just as much as I did before this episode. Shared feelings of guilt and confusion over a vigilante crime and cover up is a reasonable reason to end a marriage, but Spencer was his *son*. He didn't divorce Spencer.
I sincerely hope we aren't supposed to take away from this that William Reid is a good guy who didn't do his son wrong.
William may not have felt competent to take care of Spencer, but that doesn't explain why he cut off even casual contact. Spencer's right. Googling your son excuses *nothing*. You don't leave a child alone with someone with a serious mental illness and fail to keep tabs. That's just wrong. Even as a non-custodial dad, William should have had at least enough contact to know his son was in serious trouble when his mom went off her meds. From everything Spencer has said, the house was *filled* with evidence. If William had been in his life, he would have noticed and could have taken care of his son. And even if Diana *hadn't* gone off her meds, Spencer would at least vaguely know his father.
I totally agree. I really didn't like it that they hinted at Reid possibly forgiving his father.
William Reid left his son behind with his schizophrenic wife, who he knew wouldn't be able to raise their son. He moved across town and didn't even do anything for his son. Reid had to do so much to make sure he stayed with his mom and it seems like his dad did nothing to help. I don't care if you google articles up on your son and keep them like you're proud, you're still a bad father.
And the worst part, if Reid hadn't had these dreams, William Reid would have done nothing to try and get contact with his son again.
I think my favorite thing was seeing how badly Reid wanted to make his dad a villain instead of just a bad father.
Morgan was right in how he said Reid just wanted to nail him with something. He WANTED a villainous father, so he could easily have a target to blame why he was abandoned.
But instead, his dad was just an absentee parent who made bad decisions.
i just copy everything from my entry @ paget_brewster ;)
i LOVED this epi, but not bc of reid (i mean i like him, but he's not my fav), it was bc of emily and jane *fucking* lynch :D
her freaking out = AMAZING , that woman is talented, but we've already known that!
em was drunk haha i'd never expected that :D
and she said to todd that jj's snared (i think it's the right word...i had to search a long time for this, i blame my parents for me not speaking english as my first language) the last DONOR instead of the last MAN! (do you still get what i mean?? LOL...i tend to confuse people with rambling) duh i did it again XD forgive me?
anyway...someone on this post pointed it out, and i found it really interesting...
Fantastic episode, everything has been said by everyone, but it was awesome :)
Jane Lynch : made of win, MGG : absolutely fantastic, Hotch RELAXED FOR ONCE : totally awesome, JJ and baby and Will : made of cute, Emily : too funny, Garcia : freakin amazing, Morgan and Rossi : so cool of them to stay, awesome. The new addition to the team "blended" nicely in the CM storyline, well done! And I'm so glad Reid's dad wasn't a bad guy after all... Geez!
I love this show so much it hurts!! I was outside the whole day working as fundraiser and the only thing I could think about was going home to *have* my episode for diner :D
