UPDATE: CBS' 'Criminal Minds' Cuts Female Cast But Will Add New Female Cast Member

UPDATE TUESDAY 11AM: A source close to CBS stressed that the casting changes on Criminal Minds were a creative, not financial decision, and a way to "refresh a veteran drama series." A new regular female cast member will be brought in sometime next season to fill the void that will be left by Cook's departure.

If the reason JJ won't be on the show is because AJ wants to leave, it would honestly make me feel a lot better than if CBS just wanted to remove pretty much all the females from the show. But that doesn't explain why Paget will be in less episodes (unless she wants that too, or it's not true?). I just hope that the new female character doesn't end up being a Mary Sue who, like someone else said, is the one true love to Hotch/Morgan/etc (esp not Hotch so soon after loosing Haley, even if they were separated). If the female character is as well written/characterized as JJ/Prentiss/Garcia/Elle, then I'm more likely to adjust. If not, well, as much as I love the boys, I probably won't bother watching.

My impression was that Paget would be happy playing FBI for the rest of her life. The two versions of the story clearly don't make sense together, and I hope there will be some official statement soon, and I hope it will not be as bad as it looks, I don't want stupid drama. :/ Just when we thought the finale was OK and we didn't have to worry that anyone was leaving, this madness happens...

That having said, if a new female character is introduced... People used to bash Paget and Prentiss when she was first introduced, call her a Mary Sue and so on and so forth, and I am not looking forward to the same happening again.
