I don't know. If I heard a baby crying from inside a locked car, I'd go investigate. Kids really do die (and in really awful ways) from being left in a car.
It seemed like she barely looked around for a potential owner of the car though and she had her own young charge to consider. In the USA there are non emergency numbers to call, aren't there? It just seemed odd to me that she would open a stranger's car door so quickly.
You do know that the Cry-Baby Killer (http://www.snopes.com/crime/warnings/crybaby.asp) is a classic urban legend (and one referenced before (http://criminalminds.wikia.com/wiki/Derrick_Todd_Lee) by the show?)
Seriously enjoyed this episode. I admit that the ruse to get the nanny in the car was a bit lame but it could work. There are too many horror stories out there of parents forgetting their kids in cars, or intentionally leaving them to 'just run into the store for five minutes' A conscientious child care provider or parent would check on a crying child.
I liked seeing JJ front and center for a change. And I love seeing her with Will. I think they make a sweet family.
Nothing specific to say beyond the above. I just enjoyed the episode in every way.
I enjoyed the episode a lot. CM hardly ever makes me cry, but they did this time. The scene where the survivor and the mother hugged at the end... very beautiful. Also I enjoy seeing JJ as a mother and wife, but... I do not enjoy her as the main character... this episode just reaffirmed that to me. I'm just not a big fan of her I suppose, although I definitely don't want her to go! My heart stopped for a moment when I've got the devastating thought that the unsub might kill (or shoot) JJ when he was running away. But I did not appreciated JJ making such a promise to the survivor about her helping them catch the unsub. My reaction was just like Morgan's. And boy, does JJ do the guilt trip... but I loved her with Henry (AJ's son is such a cutie!) and Will. :D The kidnapping rouse was very believable in this scenario. And I liked the idea of Nannies being targeted instead of the children, quite a nice twist, plus the fraternal love being twisted instead of parental/sister's for a change. Also I liked the scene of Garcia feeling helpless without any serious work to do, I kinda never thought how hard it might be to her sitting in Quantico, needed to be helpful yet waiting for anything from her team to work on, while said team is off doing their jobs.
All in all, I liked the episode, it was intense and refreshing, and had it's cringe moments (the shot of the baby above the hot bathtube...) and touching moments too.
Heh, I can list off a few episodes of this show that have made me cry. "Mosley Lane" may be the worst offender in that regard, I think-I don't care how many times I've seen it, I always wind up sobbing my eyes out at the end. Every. Single. Time. Didn't out and out cry at this one, but yes, that hugging scene at the end was indeed pretty emotional.
the shot of the baby above the hot bathtube
I actually squirmed during that scene, that was deeply uncomfortable (I tend to be that way with episodes that put children in danger as it is, though). As was the ruse the kidnapper used, 'cause, um, I have to admit, I might've gotten fooled by that, too. Yikes.
I rather liked JJ in this episode, particularly at the end, with the unsub (I just want all of the team members to come back next year, okay, TPTB? Please?). And the family moments with Will and Henry were sweet, too.
(Hi, by the way, everyone! Kinda lurked here off and on in recent months, but wanting to de-lurk a bit more.)
I knew it was a rouse in the episode, but I also know I'd be fooled in a real life, because there is no way I wouldn't check a car when I hear a baby crying. So considering the victims were nannies, I find the rouse very believable.
Didn't we just have an unsub with a similar profile/motive? That guy whose mother was a sex worker(?) and would hide him, not very well, in the closet, so he went around killing women who reminded him of her in some way?
My only issue with this episode (for once they didn't show the unsub's face right away Hurray!) was JJ's "kill shot". A head shot like that is 99% impossible. Only the very best snipers can hit a moving target's head like that (yes I know he wasn't exactly moving but he was far enough way and about ready to move). That pissed me off... She may be an excellent shot but not for that shot...
I got the impression it was just a lucky shot, you know? She fired twice but hit only once, and it just happened to be in the forehead, so it looked good, but was just a coincidence. At least that's how I see it. :)
However, I do not like how Tara was treated e.g. JJ and Morgan just ambushing her at her work like that. I understand that they have a case to solve but this was a severally traumatic experience for Tara. To force her to confront with it like that is not cool. The same goes with JJ stopping Tara from using the wrist band at the end. You do NOT get to decide for her when it is over, JJ. He might be dead but that doesn't mean Tara is magically gonna get over this and you should freaking know that given your line of profession.

Not enough Garcia however!!
I want more JJ/Will/Henry scenes. I love that most of the episodes end with some kind of personal scenes with the agents. I always want more.
