This was discussed briefly on the episode discussion post, but i felt it needed it's own as it could be a HUGE added pain for our beloved leader.

The reaper, Hotch... was there a rape? it was most definitely insinuated, but i felt it was more of a "wait, WHAT?!" moment that passed to quickly to get  a full read on the situation.

im thinking no. if it had, i feel they would have put in more content to support it. all we really saw was a stab that looked below the belt. and the reaper was still fully in pants through the whole thing.

unless it's something hotch blocked from his memory...

does anyone remember what the reaper said to him? about stabbing being a substitute for sex?

if this has been discussed or anything already, feel free to mod it up.

I don't know... Foyet said "That if somebody's impotent, they'll use a knife instead. Is that what you think, Agent Hotchner? Maybe this will change your mind." Implying that he was about to show Hotch that he could use a knife without being impotent. :/

Guess it's something that could be discovered bit by bit over the season - maybe a great scene is in the works for advise from Morgan!!!

Add on to that - Foyet is all about power and control .... he would want Hotch struggling to prevent a rape .... why stab him 7 or 8 times, then rape him? He's more likely to have stabbed him once to weaken him or whatever, then raped him, then stabbed him again .... he'd want Hotch to struggle and by the time Foyet got around to mentioning knives and sex, Hotch was in no condition to fight .... no satisfaction in that scenario.

actually, Foyet was all about the sneak attack, if I remember rightly. Wait til the vic's back is turned, and then stab them. It's not about the struggle, it's about the stabbing (thus, the impotence stuff. It's true, and he's offended. He does all of this killing to prove himself manly and in control, and he can't do the "Manliest" thing ever!).

Foyet doesn't want his victim to be capable of struggling.

He wants them powerless .... so if he raped Hotch he wouldn't do it after stabbing him 9 times .... Hotch would barely be conscious .... how would it be traumatic? If he raped Hotch, he'd rape him after only stabbing him once or twice - enough to subdue him, not enough for Hotch to lose consciousness to the extent he did.
