Anybody else watch/talk about CM with their family? My nana (whom I live with) and I were up until 2 am watching it the other night. Anybody else?

(mods, delete if irrelevant)

what sorts of locations should our guys visit and why? maybe what sort of crime? feel free to chose your hometown(for obvious reasons) or any place you just want to see them go. also, if you want to restate your desire for a new crime go ahead.

Japan, maybe a rural area where very few people speak English. because i'd love to go to Japan and because Japan is super creepy. they could investigate a series of school stabbings or mysterious deaths surrounding a supposedly haunted house(this would go along with the previous discussion on what sorts of crimes we'd like to see). it would be funny to watch the team experience culture shock again and maybe see them in some kimono.

somewhere in Alaska or some equally cold place in winter because they haven't done much with snow.

some tiny town in Louisiana like Mamou or Grosse Tete because not absolutely everything happens in New Orleans. they could do a random serial murder down in the swamp and stay at an old bed and breakfast, try to decipher the local lingo, and get blood-sucked by millions of mosquitoes.

okay, new topic:

what sort of case would you like to see the CM team work next season, either because they haven't done something like this or because you think it's socially relevant/interesting/weird?

they've done so many kinds of cases, so it's hard for me to think. but i'm hopeful that the writers will continue to think of things. maybe a case involving stigmata or other religious elements they can't explain. correct me if they've done that.

We'd done crossover discussion posts a few times before, but this one is different.

The actors in this show have been in other shows (Dharma & Greg, Friends, etc.), so which of those previous shows would you crossover Criminal Minds with?

And what would the storyline be?
[identity profile] drasticbarbie.livejournal.com
okay, let's pretend the writers are suddenly on crack, or you're having a freaky dream, or just writing a crossover for yourself. which show/movie/book would you crossover CM with that's completely unlikely, impossible, unrealistic? go for something scifi, fantasy, or supernatural. and what sort of thing would happen?

i'd like to crossover CM with Star Trek: DS9. the guys from DS9 would go back in time and get stuck in around 2008/2009. one of them would get murdered and the CM team would be completely confused as to why this victim isn't even human. i don't know, it would just be crack.

here are some questions for us to answer so we can have some fun today. feel free to answer as many or as few questions as you want. pretend that you could write the ep.

1. which other crime-fighting team would you most love for CM to crossover with on an actual episode? it can be a show from any network and from any season of either show, even if the other one has been discontinued.

2. why this other team? is it one of your favorites? do you think the two groups would clash/work great together?

3. where would it take place between the two teams' headquarters?

4. what kind of crime would it be? be as detailed as you like.

5. who from the teams would you have work together?

6. what sort of interactions would you write?

7. what would the outcome be?

8. who would guest-star as victim, witness, or perp?

9. make up your own question and answer it.

thanks for participating and you guys are so much fun! i'll answer in a comment.

[info]melliyna and I have been tossing this around for the past few days, and I thought it would be nice to open it up to all of you.

What have you learned from watching Criminal Minds?

Also, we seem to have started a #hashtag on twitter: #ThingsIHaveLearnedFromCM. Come play! :)

Here are some of the #ThingsIHaveLearnedFromCM:
  • It is okay to not be okay. The people who are always okay? Are a little scary.
  • The only person who can actually save you is yourself. Keep going.
  • If you don't take control of your life, your life will take control of you.
  • Always, always, always lock the back door!
  • Watch out for the twitchy ones [tardive dyskinesia]
  • People who lie look down and to the left.
  • There are no excuses. There may be explanations, but there are no excuses.
  • Doing nothing is a still a choice.
  • Don't underestimate the geeky ones :)
And I'll leave the rest for you :)

I've been watching this other TV show, Bones. They have a psychologist on the team too. Except they can't seem to make up their minds if he's a therapist for the FBI or a profiler. I know a psychologist can be a profiler, but on CM besides Reid no one has a formal training as a psychologist. My question is how does this work at the FBI? Do their therapists also do consults on cases as profilers? Hotch saw a therapist after Mayhem who wasn't necessarily a profiler, but Rossi also mentions they wrote the questions on the eval.

Also, how long does the behavioural analysis training last in the FBI academy? And what does it entail? Is it focused on the criminal aspect or is it a bit more general?

I'm asking those of you who are studying for this, or who have done more research (and know where to look better than i do)?

edit: a bit of clarification

Hello everyone!
First of all, I'd like to thank dearly all of you who answered my questions about where the agents live.

I come now bearing another question. (This might be obvious to most people, but I haven't seen all the episodes yet, so I must have missed the ones in which it could be seen.) Where does the BAU jet take off/land? Is it pretty much outside their office or do they have to drive to get to the airstrip?

Thank you very much :)!

The season premiere is just around the corner and the promos and the tidbits of information we've been getting make me wish that we'd get a new ep every day instead of every week.

But, what do you want to see this season? Which open storylines should be completed first? Whose background do you want to know more about? What would you like to see in season 4?

I'd like to see... )

Hey everyone! I joined this fine community a few weeks ago and have been responding to posts, etc., but very rudely, have not said a proper hello. So here goes: proper hello!
I signed up to LJ after reading some excellent fanfic, and made the pleasant discovery of a fellow band of CM lovers in the process.

Getting the intro details out of the way:

Name: Hopskotch_Hotch!
Age: 24 (already?!)
Location: Ireland

Favorite TV show: CM, no contest right now!
Other Shows Watched: Sometimes hark back to the good 'uns that are no longer with us: x-files, buffy, Angel, dead like me, also CSI, Bones.
Favorite Quote: "I don't want to belong to any club that will accept me as a member" (Groucho Marx)
Favorite Color: Sometimes red, sometimes blue
If I was a criminal, I'd be...Oh, I can't even squish the tiniest bug by accident without feeling guilty. But if I had to choose - the Zodiac killer: identity still unconfirmed...

All that stuff out of the way, I have two questions for everyone:

1. What exactly was it that really drew you to CM when you first started watching?

2. If you could be one of the characters (complete with their individual intellects, quirks, and mindsets), for a single day, who would you choose?

this is from today's issue.  hooray for our show!  thomas gibson and MGG get a special mention! *hearts*

================================

You must . . .

WATCH

Criminals to keep in mind It's a crime more TV police dramas aren't better. "Criminal Minds" is better, though there's some argument over whether Mandy Patinkin's departure at the end of the second season is a plus or minus.

Though the premise isn't at all unique -- the protagonists are FBI profilers -- the viewpoint focuses on the criminals rather than on the crimes and crime fighters. And a series of powerful guest stars has enhanced the episodes. That includes the current season on CBS and the reruns (the taut second show of the series airs at 11 p.m. Friday on A&E).

Regardless, Thomas ("Dharma & Greg") Gibson as the sleek leader Hotch and Matthew ("The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou") Gray Gubler as the socially inept but brilliant Dr. Spencer Reid are sufficiently arresting themselves to carry the series.

=================================

since the article asked...do you think mandy's departure is  a plus or a minus?

i liked gideon pretty well and thought i'd be as sad as reid to watch him go. but frankly, i think season 3 was excellent and i loved the more ensemble feel to the show. but that's just me.
