Crossovers?
May. 7th, 2010 07:37 pm![[identity profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/openid.png)
I'm just wondering what people think would be a good crossover for Criminal Minds.
I'd love Criminal Minds/Bones crossover.
Or even Criminal Minds/CSI:NY crossover. Mac and Hotch working together <333
(if this isn't allowed I'll delete it!)

I'm extremely frustrated, now that I've examined the CBS-schedule for CM - after today's episode there's another 3-week hiatus planned. How do they expect people to keep interest in a series when they keep interrupting the season for 3 weeks after just 2 episodes. And why does this season only have 22 episodes (my guess, since a season generally runs just to the middle of May)? Okay, we had the Olympic Games which account for 2 weeks without CM - but 24 episodes would still have been possible...
It seems as if they spent all their efforts on one mediocre episode (The Fight), respectively on the hype around 100 - and don't know quite how to continue from there... which is majorly disappointing, especially the non-follow up so far to the events of the first half of the season. If that's a spectre of what this series has still to offer in coming seasons, I'm seriously underwhelmed.
Sorry, I had to get that out of my system. Let's just hope the last 4 episodes of season 5 at least reflect some of what makes CM such a good programme, so that I'm inclined to switch on my TV again next season... right now, I'm very ambivalent about this series unfortunately.

Since a great deal has already been posted about the bungled spin-off tie-in, I will keep this brief: My only motivation to watch the spin-off IF it gets off the ground would be to see if my prediction is correct.

I'm watching Compulsion at the moment. JJ hands Elle a bunch of folders. This got me to thinking .....
We can assume that every minute of every day for the BAU team is not spent jetting across the USA to solve crimes, that there are days, maybe weeks, where they are stuck at the office. What would they be doing? I assume that some of it would involve the paperwork involved with the crimes they were just dealing with, we know that someone like Morgan teaches hand to hand combat, so he needs time for the classes, we know that various members of the team do seminars .... but what else would they be doing at their desk .... would it be consultations?

Recap: Criminal Minds 5x18 “The Fight”
Apr. 10th, 2010 06:11 pm![[identity profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/openid.png)
OK so after watching Wednesday night's ep, I couldn't resist--I gave it the full recap treatment. I've been recapping bad movies and TV shows (mostly teen-oriented) on my YA lit blog, and if there was anything worth venturing outside my comfort zone to recap, it was this ep.
I'm linking this here in case anyone's into that sorta thing, but I warn you: this is a very lengthy, very snarky recap, and also very biased. Like I'm not even trying to hide it. So if you genuinely felt Wednesday's episode was good television, or just liked the spinoff, bear in mind that I am mocking it mercilessly, so only click if you're not inclined to take my recap seriously (which by all means, you should not). In fact, I encourage everyone not to take it seriously, since I wasn't taking myself particularly seriously while writing it. I was just having some fun.
I'm going to quote the beginning and if you're interested in the rest, I've linked the post at my LJ.

So last night, Criminal Minds aired a “backdoor pilot” (*snicker*… yes, I am 12) for its new spinoff series. So basically it’s the spinoff pilot disguised as a CM ep.
I’ll put it bluntly—when I first heard of the spinoff, I wasn’t particularly excited. OK, maybe that’s an understatement. About as excited as I would be about getting a root canal without anesthesia whilst being forced to listen to Justin Bieber on repeat whilst being forced to watch Smallville might be a little more apt. But in spite of all this, I tried my hardest to go into this with an open mind. I didn’t want the spinoff to suck—not because I have any intention of watching it, but because Bernero and co. really seem to want to show off their new toy with crossovers, should this spinoff get picked up. Unfortunately, if this ep is a harbinger of things to come, man, am I going to need more alcohol.

Hey all! While I was poking around the internet trying to find information about
flameturnedblue's post about the so-called fraternization policy, I came across a pretty sweet article on the FBI's website about the actual BAU. Did you know there are actually two BAU regions, east and west? I did not. Also, I didn't know that the BAU is actually a branch of the NCAVC- the National Center for the Analysis of Violent Crime. The other two branches of the NCAVC are CASMIRC- Child Abduction and Serial Murder Investigative Resources Center, and ViCAP, which we've all heard of on the show a time or two. (Violent Criminal Apprehension Program.)
It's a pretty cool little article, and talks about how the BAU came up with the "Child Abduction Response Plan," which is talked about on the show during child abduction episodes. You can find the article here. :)
I also found an electronic version of the FBI's 'Standard of Conduct,' or their ethics code. It gets pretty long and is VERY wordy, but if you wanna take a look, you can find it here.
What I found most amusing in it? That Rossi can't make any money off his books while he's an active agent. lolz. Poor Rossi, with his new Italian leather shoes... better stretch out that bank account, Agent Rossi! :P
"(a) Compensation for teaching, speaking or writing. Except as permitted by paragraph (a)(3) of this section, an employee, including a special Government employee, shall not receive compensation from any source other than the Government for teaching, speaking or writing that relates to the employee's official duties."
The only exemption is for teaching, so sorry Rossi, you're out of luck! :P
-Happy Thursday, everyone! <3

So, inspired by the "Worst unsub ever" post, what's just something that really annoyed you/still annoys you about CM?
Personally, I HATED the green-screen stuff in the early episodes. And I was annoyed that they didn't go more into Reid's Dilaudid problem.

In you guys' opinion, which episodes would appeal most to horror movie/story fans? I mean, episodes that are much creepier/scarier than others? Last night episode, which creeped the bajeebies out of me, got me thinking about it.
Looking for ideas and help with a fic

I'm writing a story where a psychiatric patient slips out of sight of the orderlies accompanying the group during a supervised trip in the city. The patient in question is highly delusional, and though he's calm and easygoing enough when on his medication, he could become dangerous without them, especially in an unstructured environment.
The patient has been in a closed institution since he was twelve after shooting his father. Before that he was trained to shoot guns, use knives and other weapons and had some training in hand to hand due to said previously mentioned father, who was a former marine suffering from PTSD who pulled his two children on the road, forcing them in his own delusions along with heavy mental, physical and sexual abuse of his oldest, aka the patient in question.
My question then is, with this kind of patient, how long would it take before the police gets involved in the search and how big of a response would there be? And what would it take for the BAU to be called in?
And if said patient then ends up kidnapping a child, believing the boy to be his little brother, how would this affect the case. Especially if he takes the boy in question across state lines.
( slight fic spoilers*g* )

Music in CM

Hi everyone!
I´ve got a question, or maybe a topic for the discussion for you ;)
I´ve got a question, or maybe a topic for the discussion for you ;)
What do you think about the music in the show? Is that just me, or the musical backround has realy changed? For the better(IMHO). Anyone shares this opinion? Or do you have different one? Tell us!
I realised it when I was watching Nameless, Faceless and it´s music reminded me kind of The Dark Knight OST. And the music used in Uncanny Valley just knocked me off my feets! Yann Tiersen´s Amelie from Montmartre came to my mind on more than one occasion(especialy the last scene!!! :-* ).
I think the music realy improved. I remember in third season(or so) it was a little distracting when the creators used to cut the theme in the middle when the scene ended, but I think it dissapeared too.
What do you think?

At a gas station by my house. xD

And in other CM news, I was talking to my classmate about "Revelations" and he was like, "Yeah, the part where Spencer gets spanked really freaked me out!" (he was referring to Reid getting hit on the bottom of the foot) and before I could say anything, his friend goes, "I GOTTA START WATCHING CRIMINAL MINDS! CHICKS ARE GETTING SPANKED!"

I've been watching Dexter lately, and the more often I watch s2, my fave season, the more I start thinking of what would have happened if Dexter had had to deal with the BAU instead of Frank Lundy.
So anyone feel like helping me out in how the BAU would profile the Bay Harbor Butcher? And what differences there'd be in how the gang would deal with the case, in comparison to how it was dealt with on the show?
And most of all, can anyone explain to me, why so far I've found only one CM/Dexter crossover? Because I've been wanting one, since I first started watching Dexter

I was watching some early-season re-runs on A&E last night, and the early episodes of the show make me smile. i'm glad to see the show progress to where it is now.
here are a few things i noticed that are different from now, feel free to add on/ discuss:
Hotch and Elle chemistry.
Reid's combed back, shorter hair
Reid's short sleeved button up plaid shirts
Morgan with hair.
Hotch making jokes
"Spence" / oddly maternal JJ
green screen flash backs to unsub behavior while explaining

How did you all get interested in Criminal Minds? Have you been watching it since the beginning? Did you have nothing else to watch and just stumbled across an episode and was hooked? What was you first episode? First impressions about the characters?

Hey guys. I'm back with another post. :D
Ok. So. When the show began, my main reason for getting into is was the show's content. I have been interested/facinated by serial killers for a while now. I'm curious as to how they think, why they do what they do, etc. A show about people getting inside the minds of serial killers totally had me. Since getting into the show, I've also become interested in behavioral analysis. I think its interesting that, despite us all being individual, we are all inclined to have the same body language when it comes to certain events.
My question is: has the show made you more interested in the subjects that it revolves around?
And just as a recommendation question: do you guys know of any good books about either serial killers or behavior analysis/body language?
Personally- I reccomend "Columbine" by Dave Cullen. It completely outlines the Columbine shootings and it was a really good read. :D
Mods, strike me down if this isn't allowed~

So I was watching Outfoxed last night and I kind of squeed when they went to Red Onion State prison because that is fairly close to where I live (in the same county as me.) It got me wondering if anybody else has ever had a reaction to something like that in the show. Ever had an episode set in your hometown? Did they get the geography all wrong?
