Hello all,

Due to the fact that the activity on the community has dwindled down a lot, and quite frankly because I've lost most of my interest in the show, I will not be doing episode discussion posts this season. If anyone wants to take it it over for the season they're more than welcome to, otherwise I'll just leave it open for anyone to make their own when they want to talk about it. If you do make an episode discussion post, please use the tag discussion: new!episode, and remember: no spoilers above an LJ-cut.

This doesn't mean that this place is shutting down, everything else is business as usual (so not very busy). :)

The schedule for Round Table Mondays is clear again, so I'm looking for more sign ups. The requirement is the same: minmum 100 words, and it doesn't matter if you want to talk about the team dynamics pre and post Rossi, the merits of Reid's scarves or real life FBI cases anything goes as long as it's somehow related to Criminal Minds.

A bit of meta is not really that hard to do, the minimum requirement is 100 words. It's approximately the length of this entry, actually.

Hello all,

I'm sorry I haven't been around much for the past few weeks, but RL does tend to interfere with fandom. Anyway, way back when we had the Friending Meme I also asked for what people would also like to see in this comm more and the majority answer was "more discussion". I've talked it over with my co-mods and they agree that this is a great idea.

As such I'll be instituting Round Table Mondays (eh, I'm open to name suggestions as well) which will consist of someone making a discussion post for a topic of their choice. In order to help the discussion along, I'm looking for volunteers to write a bit of meta (not long - say 100 words or so? - not set in stone) on whatever topic they would like discuss.It's easier to start of a discussion if there's already some information and place from which to start. So if you'd like to be a topic starter just let me know in a comment here with a date (and maybe a topic). I'm taking sign-ups for every Monday for the foreseeable future. The topics have to be in some way related to Criminal Minds, but tehy don't necessarily have to involve the characters/events in the show - if you'd like to talk about real serial killers, or the real BAU or death and morality and assisted dying - by all means don't let me stop you. Of course if you have any suggestions for the improvement of this format, I'm willing to listen to those as well.

I'm also instituting Friday Rec Day, which will consisted of a post made by me every Friday in which people can rec any piece of fanart (fics, drawings, vids, etc.) they've stumbled upon this week (or well at any time) and think is awesome. People will also be able to make requests for certain kind of rec if they wish to do so.

November is also NaNoWriMo, so here's a little cheering for those of you who're taking part in it - I hope it's going well!

As usual I'm interesting in what everyone has to say about all this and suggestions are more than welcome.

In light of yesterday's post, it's come to our attention that there's a lot of confusion over the definition of a spoiler; our apologies for not clarifying this sooner.

For the purposes of this community, "spoilers" apply to the current season: if you as an individual care to cut spoilers for earlier seasons, you are welcome, but not required, to; uncut spoilers for this season will not be tolerated. We're aware that people have differing opinions, but we're an international community and not simply an American one, and we'd ask you to be considerate of that fact.

As an addendum to the post linked above, warning for a spoiler and then revealing it in the next sentence rather renders the warning null. Please keep an eye to your summaries and other notes.

Unfortunately, this community receives a good amount of traffic, and the mods can't catch every spoiler that slips through. You're welcome to email us if you think we've missed one, but if you leave a comment for the author instead, please be courteous--it's our first rule, and at least where spoilers are concerned, they're often honest mistakes. We'll make every effort to find them, but yelling at people is hardly productive.

There seems to be a recurring problem with revealing spoilers of late, particularly since "Lauren" aired. We understand that people want to respond, but we need to remind you that some people still haven't seen this or other episodes, and our rules require you to both warn for spoilers and put them behind cuts.

This includes entry titles, fic summaries, vid descriptions, and anything else that may otherwise describe the content of an episode--e.g., the fic summary "Gideon's recovery from PTSD" would have counted as a spoiler for the series premiere. Please remember to place these behind cuts; if you don't know how, see the LJ FAQ.

Starting tomorrow, the mods will be requesting edits to posts with open spoilers that haven't already been fixed. You'll have twenty-four hours from the time of the request before we start deleting these posts. Once a post has been deleted, you are welcome to repost if the spoilers have been properly cut.

ETA: Qualifiers and definitions of spoilers have been posted here.

As some of you may know, the spin-off will be airing its first episode Wednesday, Feb 16th. I know views about the show are on both sides of the fence around here, but I was wondering if you guys would like an episode discussion thread for the spin-off as well. This community is dedicated to Criminal Minds so I don't think it'll be a regular thing, but there's Garcia and some of you still wanted to give it a chance.[Poll #1679561]

As you all know, our comm requires people to ask for permission before advertising any comms/journals/sites here in an attempt to keep down spam (and you don't know, please go read the rules again!). Now, with the explosion in numbers of landcomms and their traditional "pimp it!" challenges we've been getting more and more requests for land comm advertising. We can not approve all of these posts individually, the comm would most likely be a mess.

As a solution for all this, i'm making this the official "pimp your land comm" post. You can advertise whatever landcomm you are a part of in the comments to this entry without having to ask permission. Any and all landcomms are welcome, whether they are related to Criminal Minds or not. However, not all landcomm mods may accept a comment as a valid entry in any pimping challenges, so ask them first if you want to be sure you're getting the points.

Looks like I have remind everyone to go and read the rules again. Especially rule #1 which states:

1. Be courteous to one another. Keep unrelated comments (aka comments that have nothing to do with the original post) to PMs if they are polite. If impolite, keep them to yourself. No flame wars. We will ban users from this community if they can't handle themselves with a bit of decorum.

Breaking the rules, especially rule #1, makes your moderator a sad puppy but not hesitant with the banhammer. You've been warned, you know who you are. Snark on the characters, not on the people (actors, writers, fellow comm members).

Hello all!

It's been a while! I know the new season is right around the corner so i thought we'd things going again.

First, i'd like to say welcome to all of new members! There have been quite a few people who seems to have caught up with Criminal Minds over the summer! Don't be scared to join in and post stuff, we're friendly!

Weekly episode discussions will continue, as usual, but i'd also like to do other fun stuff like BAU Postsecret. Should i be a weekly thing, or just when new episodes aren't airing? How would guys feel about having a comment-a-thon? Something like this, but Criminal Minds related.

Any and all suggestions and comments are welcome!

While the latests news about our show is disheartening to say the least, please remember this community has rules and i'd like for everyone to take a moment and read them again.

The three most important things:

#1 Wank of any kind will not be tolerated. Please report any offensive (or otherwise rule breaking) comments to the moderators trough the email adress criminal.x.minds@gmail.com or trough a pm.
#2 While i'm allowing links to the petitions, twitter and articles on this subject, remmber that advertising your own community or blog (and begging for replies there) will be considered spam unless previously approved.
#3 I've added the tag wtfcbs? to all of the posts pertaining to this subject. Please tag all future posts appropriately (character/actor tags are also appropriate).

Hey guys,

Time for another PSA from your friendly neighborhood mods with a few reminders.

We've once again amended the rules a bit. Namely rule #4 that now states:

4. Large pictures (anything larger than 300px in height and length), more than three icons, fanfic, and any other "large" posts should go behind a LJ-cut. And please do not format your posts with large fonts and bright colors.

This is just a small issue, and we've included it because it improves readability (and saves flists). The moderators cannot edit your posts, so if a moderator asks that you edit your post (for any reason) please do so as soon as possible. If you have not done so within five hours of the request, your post will be deleted. Reposts that do not break the rules are allowed.

Also, we have decided that Real Person Fanfiction (RPF) will not be allowed in this community. This also means we won't allow any advertisements from communities/sites with such content (to the best of our knowledge) and we will not accept any such affiliates. We apologize for any inconvenience but we are not willing to risk legal repercussion due to libel or defamation of character should someone directly affiliated with CBS or Criminal Minds stumble across us. The show makes every effort to pay attention to its fans, and we don't want to risk a negative outcome because of it.

We also want to remind everyone that the best way to contact the mods with any questions and/or issues is through the email address criminal.x.minds@gmail.com. If you want to advertise your community, please ask here, and if you want to affiliate with us, make a comment here.

As you all should be aware of, the country of Haiti was recently devastated with a catastrophic earthquake. Many are contributing fandom work to the community

help_haiti, with the items offered going to the highest bidder. All proceeds are donated directly to established relief efforts for Haiti.

darkhawkhealer was the first (and only member) to ask permission to advertise her offerings (rule #7 in the community profile).
